Urban Decay Bombshell Lashes For LUXHAIR Models

Yesterday I worked my dream assignment for #LUXHAIR at Cult Studios. Hair was everywhere, short hair, long hair, blonde wigs, red wigs, black wigs, that I could not concentrate, I was definitely in la la world. The event showcased the new wig collections of Sherrie Shepherd, Tabatha Coffey, and Daisy Fuentes.
I worked on three stunning models that I’m a big fan of; Rashida Harris, Alisha Giles, and Stephanie Slick. Kristi, one of my many favorite ladies at Alison Brod PR provided strip lashes from Urban Decay cosmetics. The style the client wanted on the models were called BLACK VELVET. I think these lashes may have been the most magnificent pair of strip lashes I have ever laid my eyes on. I was in love with how lavish the hairs were to say they are of synthetic fibers leaving the models with a flirty look. I was very impressed with how fast the iridescent latex free adhesive dries great for any woman who need the glue to dry fast and clear.
So I need to be stock with these bombshell lashes in my makeup kit daily and of course especially for my next assignment, Essence Music Festival that takes place next week in New Orleans.

Lifetime Project Runway Photo Shoot for Season 10

The actually Project Runway set…iDIE
It’s always cool to work assignments on TV shows that you actually watch. Project Runway is one of those shows that I LOVE and I have always enjoyed doing makeup for Project Runway. Today’s assignment was a little different. It’s the photo shoot of the season 10 designers for the official Lifetime Project Runway page. The three designers that I worked with were: Buffi Jashanmal from Dubai, Sonjia Williams from Boston, and Beatrice Guapo from San Diego. I loved them. All three had different personalities and style. I can’t wait to see what the clothes they design on the show will look like. Buffi and I made a pack that we will reunite at the finale show and switched personal gifts. Buffi gave me a lipstick pen and I gave Buffi a L’OREAL Paris leGloss. So just like all Project Runway fans, I will be at home cheering on the designers seeing who will MAKE IT WORK.
Enjoying my breakfast on set

Effortless Summer Makeup Look Using Stila Cosmetics

At my recent photo shoot on Sunday, the look for the models was natural makeup for both the photo shoot and video. The first makeup brand I reached for out of my makeup kit was Stila cosmetics. After meeting my first model out 10 for the day, I knew that Stila cosmetics would be perfect. I decided to go for an effortless summer makeup look for all the models. This is look one and the items that used are below.

Getting Fashion Blogger Garance Doré Ready For The CFDA

Garance Dore and Scott Schuman on the red carpet at CFDA
I’ve been blessed to have done makeup on many celebrities like the Kardashians, Jennifer Aniston, Kerry Washington, Angela Bassett, and Melissa Leo just to name a few. Each time, I was excited to have my makeup brushes touch recognizable women in the industry. Yesterday though, I was just as elated but the feeling was a little different. It was more of an honor. To be a part of a major moment in the life of Garance Dore, highly recognized fashion and style blogger. She and boyfriend fellow blogger Scott Schuman, were receiving  the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Eugenia Sheppard Media Award. The CFDA is an prestigious organization honoring designers and significant contributions to the fashion industry. It’s like the Oscars for the fashion industry. This is the first time this award will be given to a non traditional media person. It also set a precedence about the influence and importance of blogs. Like so many woman all over the world, I to am a fan of Garance Dore, which is maybe why it’s was such a special evening for me. To be a part of such a monumental evening with her and Scott was nothing short of amazing.
While Melissa and I set up, Garance put on music from Lana Del Rey. Scott went out to get Garance her favorite chocolate and he left us girls alone while he got ready. She shared with us that she was happy that a good friend Pharrell Williams would be presenting both her and Scott with the award.
Garance selected this style for her hair inspiration

Waiting for Garance so Melissa & I have our own street style moment

Last week Garance shared with hairstylist Melissa Paldino and me the look she wanted for tonight. Because Garance doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and in my mind I wanted to go really glam with red lips and lashes, lol. But I knew that would take her out of her comfort zone, so the makeup look that we decided on was a strong eyes and sheer cherry lips. I selected L’OREAL Paris voluminous waterproof mascara in carbon black. Wasn’t sure if she would shed a tear when she got on stage to accept her award so I played it safe. Also, I chose carbon black because I really wanted to give her the darkness in her eyes without using black eye shadow to smoke her eyes out. I used L’OREAL Paris Infallible 24hr eye shadows because I wanted her color to stay put for the evening and I knew those shadows would do just that.

All of my L’OREAL Paris makeup is laid out and ready to be used on Garance

Garance is telling me something funny while I’m doing her makeup…she has the best stories
Beautiful kelly green dress from designer Derek Lam
Garance is wearing 2 manchettes prototypes that will not be available until next year  from Reed  Krakoff
Scott Schuman & Garance Dore at the after party…luv them!!!
To put you in the mood of the fabulous Garance Dore, here’s a treat. This song we played from Lana Del Rey, Video Games about 4 times….CONGRATS Garance & Scott, Thank You For A Glamxurious Day!

A Makeup Tip With Fashion Blogger Garance Doré

When you put together a popular fashion/style blogger and a industry makeup artist what do they talk about? Everything from fashion, makeup and more makeup. Garance would ask me questions about makeup and I would do the same. Garance and I talk so much so I really don’t remember how we got on this cool makeup tip.
I shared that my personal makeup secret was; I like using Starbucks coffee brown recycle napkins to blot my face with. I have very oily skin, I find that the napkins works best for me, better than any blotting / rice paper could ever. The fibers used in the napkins helps to absorb the oil on my face leaving it with a matte finish. Garance luved it!
