Bridal Beauty:Go Nude on Your Wedding Day

written by Connecticut and New York Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis

This season bold, bright colors are popping up everywhere from eye shadows, lipsticks, nail polishes, clothing, handbags and shoes. Not all brides are fans of color and for these brides – less is always more. Some brides prefer the “barely there” nude makeup. The nude makeup look is a classic one that will never go out of style, but it has been revised. Creating the nude look this season is all about giving the bride an illuminated face. Her skin should look hydrated, natural and fresh. No heavy blush and definitely no heavy contouring. This is a great look for a destination bride because the dewy look always works best at a beach wedding instead of a matte face and lip.

So now you are a glowing bride on your wedding day!

Here are the makeup items I used to create this glamxurious look on my bride Erica.

*Rodial Glamtox Eye Pen
*L’OREAL Paris True Match Foundation #N5 True Beige
*L’OREAL Paris True Match Powder #N5 True Beige

*M.A.C pigment in Vanilla
*L’OREAL Paris HIP Studio Secrets Professional Metallic Duo Eye shadow in Energized
*L’OREAL Paris HIP Studio Secrets Professional Creamliner in Brown
*L’OREAL Paris Double Extend Eye Illuminator in Black Quartz

Wedding: Bride Aimee Sofio

I flew to New Orleans to do my bride Aimee makeup on December 18th. Her location of choice for makeup was the Roosevelt hotel and her entire wedding party all stayed at the FAB hotel as well. Today will be my fourth time working with her. So this day was very important to me. Aimee and I became friends after working together so many times. She’s a pleasure to work with as well as her girls. The girls all received different makeup looks so I enhanced each girls with colors to enhance and compliment them.

Thanks Aimee for hiring me to be your personal makeup artist….

Something glam, Something borrowed, Something blue

Bright colors have run rampant on the runways this season. And as with any runway makeup look, brides will be anxious to try the latest trends. Bright colors can be tricky, especially on the eyes. The easiest way to emulate the bright colors look without reliving the 80’s is to use colored cream eyeliners. These are fun, playful, and take the dull out of bridal makeup.

This fall to play up the makeup on all my brides I will use colored cream eyeliners and will incorporate the colors like plums, midnight blues, and indigos to give the runway effect that is ready to wear. Both Smashbox and L’OREAL cosmetics have great cream eyeliners that are long wearing and won’t smear or smudge on your wedding day.

They also provide an array of bright colors that will give any glamxurious bride an exciting and cool ways to turn her aisle into a runway.

Smashbox Cream Eyeliner Palette $32.00
Smashbox Cream Metallic Eyeliner Palette $32.00

L’OREAL Professional Studio Secret HIP Cream Truth Eyeliner $11.99
