Enjoying My Spring Break Every Day At Home In Hawaii

This weekend all I saw on the news and on social media was media coverage about the Spring Break crowd in Miami, Florida. When I was of age, early 20’s under 25 let me stress that I particpated with friends getting together and traveling during our break. Of course this was years ago and not during a pandemic. As I got older whenever my girlfriends and I wanted to get together for a break or mini vacation we planned accordingly and did private lodging. We never went anywhere with the attitude of destroying places /things and being violent with others while on holiday. It was so sad to see the young adults this weekend be so disrespectful to the city of Miami, Florida.

I have a 23 year old son who visited Miami, Florida when he was 21 with his friends and the energy and his experience was totally different. They partied with respect, they enjoyed the beautiful culture, the delicious food, drinked high end drinks, danced until the morning light came up and made it back to their hotel safetly.

Before moving to Hawaii I would always do fun getaways with friends like renting an island or go on a fancy glamping trip. Be creative and take time with your planning so that you can do fun and luxurious destinations trips. Traveling should be rewarding and if you need to get away during a pandemic, do it safe and keep it fabulous! So, I kept the same energy as I got older and now I enjoy my private beach and living the lifestyle I want here in Hawaii.

As a woman, an adult, and a mother it was defintely creepy watching the older crowd mingling with the kids out there. I still think anyone that’s 26 and older that is out in Miami during these kids Spring Break should be ashame of themselves. Do you agree with me?

It’s Aloha Friday And We Talking About Upscale Restaurants In Hawaii

We Fancy Huh…Two luxurious spots in Hawaii we can’t wait to revisit

Everyone knows that Hawaii is PARADISE! And while the first hotspot that everyone wants to visit in Oahu is Waikiki, the girls have two other upscale beach life locations that tickle their fancy.

For Aloha Friday we always like to spotlight local businesses in Hawaii that we love to visit. Sometimes, we spotlight places that tourists may not know about and sometimes we will. We’re just two girls from the mainland who is lucky to live in Hawaii.

Co-Host Julia Rebolo is a fan of “Orchids”located inside of Halekulani Hotel in Honolulu, and Co-Host Brandy Gomez-Duplessis is obsessed with Monkey Pod Kitchen on the west side in Ko Olina.

So once you get to Hawaii, definitely add these two restaurants to your list of luxurious dining to visit.

Work Dinner For A New Makeup Store In Hawaii

img_7316My family and I arrived here in Hawaii on May 29th, I started working on June 11th and on June 15th the The Cosmetics Company Store opened in Hawaii. Before moving to Hawaii I was already hired and I was excited to be a part of a new store that was opening in Hawaii.

The team that I work with at The Cosmetics Company Store are the only people that I know, still. They have become my new set of associates. When you get my age (48) you don’t throw around the word friends so easy. But I have build a very good friendship with Heather. I also think two of the guys look at me as an mentor. Because the guys are 22 & 24 who love makeup and my experience of being a Celebrity Makeup Artist on the mainland for 20 plus years I have become a great mentor for them.

So when our Store Manager Heather decided to have a bonding dinner with the staff I thought it would be a nice experience to attend. We have a very small team of 8 and 2 stock guys, so it was a very intimate dinner.

Even though the staff could all be my kids except one Key Holder and the Store Manager I still wanted to attend to build a relationship with the crew. Because we are a new store we need to build a strong team early. To be the first group to open this new store in Hawaii is definitely something we should all be proud of.

Heather set up a non-mandatory dinner at Chili’s in Waikele on Sunday at 6:45pm after the store was closed. We got a chance to share stories about each other, just let loose and laugh a lot.

A great evening was had and I think the dinner has brought the team together so much more.

Freelance Makeup Assignment Today With United Airlines In Hawaii

img_3853-2Aloha 🤙🏾🌺🌸

I’m so elated about today because I was hired to do a photoshoot with United Airlines at Honolulu International Airport. Tomorrow makes 1 week that my family and I moved to Hawaii and I’m already getting freelance bookings to do makeup and hair here. So that makes me happy that my new home will be using my makeup and hair services

The company that called me  to book me for this assignment has offices in LA, NY, DC, and Chicago. So maybe someone from the one of the offices saw my my tweets or instagram post because I haven’t done any major marketing about my move. However they found me, I’m definitely grateful. I love working and doing makeup brings me so much happiness. Living in paradise and doing what I love makes me a very blessed woman.

My call time was at 8:15am but you know I’m always early so I arrived at 7:30am and I emailed my contact person at 8am. I knew that I would have to get a guest pass to enter and go through security so I wanted to make sure I gave myself enough time to do that.

What a great welcomed I received when the contact person from United Airlines came to get me from the counter. Hugs and kisses, that was so sweet and a beautiful way to be welcome. She brought me over to the ticket counter to get a pass then escorted me through security. They asked me to bring very minimal items because of going through TSA. But you know me I’m always an over packer. The only thing I didn’t bring was my L’OREAL Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray. I didn’t have any of my mini’s on me I only had one regular size and I knew that wouldn’t get through.

They had me set up in the beautiful United Airlines Lounge. The shoot was only 2 hours with one male talent, United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz. Everything went so effortlessly the company that booked me and the United Airlines staff were also so chill and professional. While the shoot was going on I sat back in read Modern Luxury Hawaii magazine. Perfect magazine to learn about all the luxurious stores and products that’s here in Hawaii.

They got the talent In & Out swiftly. Overall it was a very easy assignment and I’m grateful and blessed that I was called.

Becoming: Are You Becoming The Person You Always Wanted To Be

img_0155Makeup Artistry for me is art, I can stand for hours doing makeup on a human canvas. Creating different beautiful makeup looks is something I’m great at. I do ok on myself but on a canvas I feel like I’m painting masterpiece.

Two of my favorite things to do when doing makeup is creating flawless skin and sultry eyes. If the skin is not radiant and smooth then the rest of the beat face means nothing. With eyes, it was always important to me. I use to get clients telling me they knew I did the work because of the way the eyes were done. When I was young teen I use to draw eyes all the time and place them all over my walls. I remember my parents mostly my father thinking I was crazy, no really, like crazy I need help. But I’m embracing the beauty of who I am, and I’m doing exactly what I’ve always wanted to do…create art.

For 22 years, I have been bless doing what I love. This week former First Lady Michelle Obama new book, BECOMING came out and after watching Michelle Obama speak on OPRAH Winfrey Presents: Becoming Michelle Obama it made me think. Yes, I’m doing what I am passionate about but now what else can I do with it. I’ve taught makeup, I’ve coached makeup artistry at SEPHORA, I even started Beauty Blueprint, helping aspiring makeup artist who wanted to work in the beauty & entertainment industry when I was on bed rest due to Lupus. Just last year I launched a luxurious mineral base makeup line called Entitled Beauty. But how else can I now push myself to do more. So this is where I am stuck, I feel like I still have more to bring to the industry but what?

Do you ever think about how can you elevate yourself in your career?

WorkParty Tour Stopped In New York And We Had A Blast

My Boss Babe, Ilse McDonnell and I from Live, Learn and Luxe It was invited to attend a fun work party that we couldn’t pass up. We both try to attend events where positive women are hosting and sharing tips on how we could better our brand.

Todays event is taking place in New York, it’s a part of the third WorkParty Tour stop hosted by Jaclyn Johnson. Jaclyn has a weekly podcast powered by Create Cultivate and presented by Microsoft 365. The event was held at WeWork Bryant Park and bubbly was served from Chandon and Crispin Cider.

The panel consists of Rebecca Minkoff, Christine Barbaric, Michelle Lee and Olivia Pérez. The ladies shared with us what it’s like to be a BOSS and how they got their seat at the table. One of my favorite quotes came from the awesome Rebecca Minkoff. She said to us entrepreneurs, “To be an entrepreneur in 2018, you have to multi-task like a bitch.”

Microsoft had an interactive booth where we took a 6 question quiz. I was quoted as The Heart and the other two team member you could have been called was The Influencer and The Collaborator.

At the end of the evening, 16 Boss Babes won a Microsoft Surface Pro and I was one of the lucky winners. So if a WorkParty Tour make a stop in your city be sure to attend.
