Where Do You Stand?
Just Girlfriends is a video podcast hosted by Co-Host Brandy Gomez-Duplessis and Co-Host Julia Rebolo. The ladies are based out of Oahu, Hawaii and started their posted while being quarantine in late March 2020. They wanted to stay in touch while following the “Stay Home” order but still staying connected with each other. You can follow the ladies on Instagram at Just Girlfriends or you can follow them on Facebook at Just Girlfriends.
Today, I had a bridal consultation scheduled and it wasn’t the best of day for a bride to come out to get hair & makeup.
The rain has been coming down all night and all morning. Not your usual weather here in Hawaii. But, I’ve been told that in December, January, and February the weather is not the best here in Hawaii. We seem to get heavier rainfalls at night then in the day we get these mist of showers follow by rainbow.
So, I shouldn’t complain about the weather but last night I took my time to pin curl my hair so that it would last all week due to my busy schedule. So, I didn’t want my hair to get wet and then get all big and frizzy. Plus, I wanted to look nice for my client and her soon to be mother in-law who was coming in to see me today at Bloomingdale’s in Ala Moana Center. Can’t be running around looking like Lion King because I know I’m going to want to take pictures with the beautiful soon to be bride.
I met Adrian last month when she arrived here in Hawaii and I helped her with selecting a new foundation from Armani. I choose the Luminous Silk foundation for Adrian because of her gorgeous skin and because she wanted a radiant makeup look. Adrian reached out to me right after the holidays and said she would like to come in for her bridal pics and would like to bring her mother in-law Barbara. Adrian is not a daily makeup wearer so I wanted to give her a makeup look that would be just enough for pictures. No lashes and heavy contour was needed, I kept Adrian makeup effortless. I wanted to focus on her skin, I wanted to brighten up her skin and under worked under her eyes. Sometimes, correcting the skin is all a girl need.
Then it was Barbara’s turn to get makeup glammed with me. Barbara does wear makeup everyday so she was really excited about getting her makeup done by me. For Barbara, I also focused on her skin. I prepped her with Armani Prima skincare first then I corrected her skin warming up her skintone and also I corrected under eyes. Barbara actually had great skin so I didn’t need to cover up anything. Just matching her with the correct foundation.
Both ladies were now ready for their photo shoot across the street at Ala Moana Park. When you’re in Hawaii and need help with finding the correct foundation, skincare and/or need a glam facebeat, you can book your appointment with me at Bloomingdale’s inside Ala Moana Center. All of the makeup I used on both ladies were from Giorgio Armani.
As a makeup artist I am always looking for a canvas to do makeup looks on. Today at Bloomingdales in Ala Moana Center, I saw a face coming towards me that I knew I needed to get to.
Stephanie came through Bloomingdale’s looking for a new foundation and after learning more about her skin and her makeup style I selected Armani Power Fabric Foundation for her. After doing a foundation match I like to go back in apply the foundation on my guest so they could see what it look like on the skin. So, I first clean the skin, then I prep the skin with Armani Prima Glow On Moisturizing Cream skin care. After applying the Power Fabric Foundation on Stephanie we both agreed that the match was seamless on her. When you have a canvas that look this flawless I couldn’t help myself wanting to create a beautiful JLo inspired makeup look on Stephanie. Don’t you agree, Stephanie face shape is very similar to JLo so I couldn’t help myself. It worked out perfectly because Stephanie was going out tonight to celebrate a BFF birthday. So, the makeup wouldn’t go to waste. I pulled some of my favorite makeup items and this is what I came up with.
If you’re in Hawaii or will be visiting Hawaii soon and is in need of makeup give me a call or shoot me an email to book with your makeup face beat with me. The great thing about this makeup look is no LASHES were needed.
Being the new Business Manager for Armani Beauty at Bloomingdale’s I get the opportunity of being a part of this fantastic event. I would love to have my followers to attend and book their luxurious day of makeup, skincare and fragrance with me at the Armani counter.
Let me help you select the best items from Armani Beauty for you. This is a great time to come by and try out products like Armani Beauty coveted award winning foundation, their Luminious Silk Foundation or try on their famed The Armani Signature Red Lipsticks, the 400’s, or let me show you how to get The Armani Glow with 4 essentials steps.
I’m so elated about being a part of the Armani Beauty family. Being a makeup artist in the beauty industry for 23 years I’m always selected about what brand I connect with. It’s the only couture makeup artist brand with a real backstage creation. Armani Beauty has so many fabulous products that I cannot pick which items are my favorite but I can definitely help you find a few favorite items on November 16th.

My family and I arrived here in Hawaii on May 29th, I started working on June 11th and on June 15th the The Cosmetics Company Store opened in Hawaii. Before moving to Hawaii I was already hired and I was excited to be a part of a new store that was opening in Hawaii.
The team that I work with at The Cosmetics Company Store are the only people that I know, still. They have become my new set of associates. When you get my age (48) you don’t throw around the word friends so easy. But I have build a very good friendship with Heather. I also think two of the guys look at me as an mentor. Because the guys are 22 & 24 who love makeup and my experience of being a Celebrity Makeup Artist on the mainland for 20 plus years I have become a great mentor for them.
So when our Store Manager Heather decided to have a bonding dinner with the staff I thought it would be a nice experience to attend. We have a very small team of 8 and 2 stock guys, so it was a very intimate dinner.
Even though the staff could all be my kids except one Key Holder and the Store Manager I still wanted to attend to build a relationship with the crew. Because we are a new store we need to build a strong team early. To be the first group to open this new store in Hawaii is definitely something we should all be proud of.
Heather set up a non-mandatory dinner at Chili’s in Waikele on Sunday at 6:45pm after the store was closed. We got a chance to share stories about each other, just let loose and laugh a lot.
A great evening was had and I think the dinner has brought the team together so much more.

I walk down to the beach at least 3 times a week if my schedule allows it. Whenever I do come down to the beach I always bring my Microsoft Surface Laptop with me. It’s my life, I work on my blog, I do my invoices, I work on my calendar, I make videos, I watch TV and I listen to music. So, I don’t leave home without it.
I know many would disagree with me that the beach should be a place for relaxation. I should be surfing or enjoying some type of water activity at the beach. I do get in the water, my body love that magical turquoise healing power Hawaii beaches has. But I work better when I’m on the beach by myself. I feel like I don’t have an interruptions like I do when I’m home. I get distracted with house stuff, ladies I know you understand. I start thinking about all the things I SHOULD BE DOING! As I’m typing I can see from the corner of my eyes that the floor has sand on it from yesterday visit at the beach, or I think about those dirty towels from yesterday at the beach that need to go in the wash, then dinner and so on and so on. As my son calls it (his office) the beach is my place for me to not just zen out, not to heal my body but also a spot for me to work.
I pack myself a little bag and my hoodie because it gets windy later in the evening and I just enjoy getting work done. Not too shabby of an office I must say.
Do you have a unusual spot that you like to go to when you work from home?

Definition of Success:
My definition of success is doing what I’m passionate about and being able to live the lifestyle that I want. I have been blessed to achieve success in my career and have the lifestyle that I want. Being an entrepreneur is hard and it’s a lot of work. You need discipline, strength and very tough skin. But success comes with sacrifice and for me that was time with my husband and kids. I missed out on a few important dates in their lives. So, I promised myself that I would always give them the best life I could give each of them every day.
Everyday that I am with them is special, so when I missed those special days it wasn’t so disappointing for them. At the end of the day, it was worth it when my kids shared with me that I was their role model not someone famous on television. They saw that my hard work was for them to live the lifestyle that they had.
Self Esteem:
Self-esteem is something that I was taught by my parents and family. They always gave me positive and encouraging words. I think women should surround themselves around people that know their worth and love how they look. The world is different now, it’s very sensitive and so is the world. You must be confident in yourself and understand that everyone is not going to embrace you. When I was growing up, I didn’t see a lot of women that looked like me on TV, magazines, and in the workplace.
My skin tone wasn’t always liked by others, but I didn’t need their approval to feel great about myself. I was already told by my loved ones and I loved what I saw when I looked in the mirror. So, if I wasn’t someone’s flavor of choice it was ok. I want girls, teens and young adults to understand that we are not always going to be someone’s flavor of choice whether it comes to looks, bodies, hair, and skin tone. And guess what, it’s ok. You need to love yourself first. Looking for love from other people to validate who you are doesn’t work. #justsaying
Dating Advice:
The advice that I would give to single women on LOVE & DATING is to enjoy yourself but respect yourself. Usually, you have already met your soulmate, he’s that friend that you’re overlooking for that bad boy. He’s that guy that is always there for you when your heart is broken. Also, date guys that are not in your community but that guys who have similar taste like you do. I can promise you that he’s not on those Apps…sorry girls.
What’s in the future:
I see for Entitled Beauty, my partner and I creating more colors and products. I see us growing and retailing not just online but in boutiques, salons, and hotels. We will become a household name!

Favorite shade of lipstick:
OMG! This is a hard question. Let’s see, my favorite shade of is lipstick is a bold purple shade called Queen B from my makeup line Entitled Beauty. It’s the color I created for us, Lupus Warriors.

I’m so elated about today because I was hired to do a photoshoot with United Airlines at Honolulu International Airport. Tomorrow makes 1 week that my family and I moved to Hawaii and I’m already getting freelance bookings to do makeup and hair here. So that makes me happy that my new home will be using my makeup and hair services
The company that called me to book me for this assignment has offices in LA, NY, DC, and Chicago. So maybe someone from the one of the offices saw my my tweets or instagram post because I haven’t done any major marketing about my move. However they found me, I’m definitely grateful. I love working and doing makeup brings me so much happiness. Living in paradise and doing what I love makes me a very blessed woman.
My call time was at 8:15am but you know I’m always early so I arrived at 7:30am and I emailed my contact person at 8am. I knew that I would have to get a guest pass to enter and go through security so I wanted to make sure I gave myself enough time to do that.
What a great welcomed I received when the contact person from United Airlines came to get me from the counter. Hugs and kisses, that was so sweet and a beautiful way to be welcome. She brought me over to the ticket counter to get a pass then escorted me through security. They asked me to bring very minimal items because of going through TSA. But you know me I’m always an over packer. The only thing I didn’t bring was my L’OREAL Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray. I didn’t have any of my mini’s on me I only had one regular size and I knew that wouldn’t get through.
They had me set up in the beautiful United Airlines Lounge. The shoot was only 2 hours with one male talent, United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz. Everything went so effortlessly the company that booked me and the United Airlines staff were also so chill and professional. While the shoot was going on I sat back in read Modern Luxury Hawaii magazine. Perfect magazine to learn about all the luxurious stores and products that’s here in Hawaii.
They got the talent In & Out swiftly. Overall it was a very easy assignment and I’m grateful and blessed that I was called.

Yes, you read the title correctly. The Gomez-Duplessis is now residing in Honolulu Hawaii on the island of Oahu in Ewa Beach. I know it’s still so surreal to us that we’re here and not on vacation, that we will now be calling Hawaii home.
Everything happened very fast, God gave me the directions and from my bed I was able to set everything up. As you know I have Lupus, RA, Lyme, and Asthma. My lungs has been my biggest challenge the last few years and very swiftly they started shutting down. I was on that damn breathing machine so much was going through my 2 inhalers very fast. Couldn’t leave my house had to stay in one room being isolated from everyone was the worse.
Having double pneumonia and hearing the doctors saying stroke and I’m now on a stretcher, shirt being open and wires placed everywhere was the icing on the cake for me but more for my husband. Hearing him say “WE NEED YOU” and seeing his eyes I knew it was getting bad. Right after he started talking about moving to Arizona. But nothing bit for him, but he did get a bite from a company that said “we would love to relocate you to Hawaii”. Then it happened, he was offered the position and I was on the computer, doing a lot of virtual house tours, and calling shipping companies for the car and furniture. Then having open house going on and packing like it all happened in 1 month basically.
We have never been to Hawaii, so we didn’t know what to expect. But God made this transition so easy that I know it was the right move for us. Now, getting here was our only challenge. The weather in NY was horrible so our flight was first delayed for many hours than finally cancelled. It took us 2 days to get to our new home but we made it safe and we now have all 9 of our luggages that was sent to LAX.
I can’t wait to share pictures with you and I think I want to start doing video blogs. I just don’t know how to edit them. So, this is my first video so please don’t be to hard on me. Yes, I will still work doing what what I do best and that’s makeup. I actually start working on June 11th. I did lots of digital interviews and calls last month so life will be back to normal just in PARADISE…ALOHA
