With so many makeup palettes on the market, all offering an array of hues, pigment intensities, and textures, it’s hard to know where to look. Do you head to Sephora and shell out for the latest from luxe brands, or do you mosey on over to your local drugstore and scoop up a much more reasonably priced palette that very well may offer the exact same results you’re looking for? To splurge or not to splurge — doesn’t that always seem like the question? We reached out to celebrity makeup artists to find out what they use on their clients, and as it turns out, they’re big fans of the cheaper contenders. Here, some of the drugstore eyeshadow palettes pros keep in their stash.

Here is what I shared with Jenn and GLAM.comeye shadow palettes

3. NYX Professionals Warm Neutrals Ultimate Shadow Palette ($18; ulta.com)

Celebrity makeup artists Brandy Gomez-Duplessis is a major fan of NYX products because of their quality formulas. “I love that they’re highly pigmented and that the colors blend very well with either an eye shadow brush or just your finger,” she says. “The colors wear very well on all skin tones, and when I want to give my client a soft, washed-out eye, it’s very easy to use a ring finger or the tip of a beauty blender to pat the shadow on the lid.” With 16 shadows, ranging from light champagne to warm chocolate brown, this eye shadow palette is great for creating everyday looks.

Hawaii Living: Friday On The Beach In O’ahu Hawaii

img_4265When you get my age Friday nights doesn’t always consist of wearing a freakum dress, 6 inch heels and sweating out the hair on the dance floor.

When living on any island in Hawaii and your over 40’s you will probably catch us sitting on the beach before strutting in a nightclub. Don’t get me wrong if I had family and friends in town then maybe you’ll find me somewhere in Waikiki walking it out.

But for now, my Friday’s consist of me hanging out on the beach at home in Ewa Beach, eating, drinking and enjoying the beautiful turquoise warm water. What I love about our beach is it’s secluded and we have a catering company that comes out on the weekend and sell food, drinks and snacks to the community that live on the beach. This is one of the amenities that sold me on this location. A private beach that I can just walk to. I don’t have to pay to go on the beach, if I wanted to drive a few steps I wouldn’t have to pay to park my car. The weekdays are usually empty so it’s like having the beach to myself. On the weekend I see more traffic but still not what you would see in Waikki. The beach is so big that everyone can just spread out and find a spot and still feel like you’re alone.

Today I only wanted the fancy grilled cheese sandwich with chips and a Blue Mermaid. I enjoyed the Blue Mermaid before so this time I ordered 2. So, I didn’t have to get my lazy ass up to get another.

img_4266

Finally Prince Charming came to join me, his evening right after work consist of going to the gym or running 2 miles around the lagoon. Then he showers and join me on the beach. Not a shabby Friday, right?

What It’s Like Shipping Your Car From The Mainland To Hawaii Using Matson

img_3885I’m so elated about Queen B, my mature Lincoln MKZ being here with me in Hawaii. She arrived today and I can’t express how happy I am. We only been in Hawaii for 1 week so items from the mainland is slowly arriving to Hawaii. Everyday it’s like Christmas when we receive a box or boxes. The big items (Furniture) will be here between June 25th-July 9th. Everyday we check in to see if the arrival date changed. Because that’s what happen with the car, Matson Ocean Shipping gives you a tracking number so you can check on your car. The date changed a few times always fluctuating between June 3rd and 4th.

So after the photoshoot I did with United Airlines at the Honolulu Airport we went over to Matson to pick up Queen B. Matson was so close to the airport that it worked out really great. You should have saw me all antsy in shit.

Matson basically is set up like a DMV place but with a nicer staff. You give them your booking number, they pull your info up and in our case they didn’t have a release name so Michael had to call the Cargo Management Group, Inc company who picked up the car to enter our name in the system for release. That was fast and painless nothing to complain about there. We noticed how fast they were getting the customers in & out so I was getting a little worried because we been waiting for some time now.

My husband knows my personality so he went to ask how much longer because we can hear the staff talking to customers about lunch time starting around 11:45 am. Because we been there for awhile I didn’t want to have to wait until they came back from lunch.

So we found out the reason for the delay, it was because Queen B needed a jump and more gas. We followed the rules that was given to us about the amount of gas to put in the car so I was a little alarmed about why the car was on empty. Then I started thinking why would the battery be dead. So, after looking online it could be for a few reasons. When a car sit for a long period of time it can cause the battery to die. Another reason was someone from the Cargo Management Company could have left something on when they were driving the car. Another thing would cause a dead battery was if the battery was old, but mine isn’t and last bad alternator and that also wasn’t the problem.

My only concern was the 20 miles Queen B was driven and how did one of the a/c panel get broken. Because it was to many people involved it’s hard to pick who was at fault. Now that we have our keys it’s time to go get her a nice car wash because she was ashy ashy. Can’t be driving around Hawaii looking like that.

img_3933

My girl is no longer ashy I got her looking SEXY again. Overall, I was pleased with the service I received because we have heard worse nightmares from what others had experience with shipping their cars to Hawaii. I definitely would use both companies again.

Freelance Makeup Assignment Today With United Airlines In Hawaii

img_3853-2Aloha 🤙🏾🌺🌸

I’m so elated about today because I was hired to do a photoshoot with United Airlines at Honolulu International Airport. Tomorrow makes 1 week that my family and I moved to Hawaii and I’m already getting freelance bookings to do makeup and hair here. So that makes me happy that my new home will be using my makeup and hair services

The company that called me  to book me for this assignment has offices in LA, NY, DC, and Chicago. So maybe someone from the one of the offices saw my my tweets or instagram post because I haven’t done any major marketing about my move. However they found me, I’m definitely grateful. I love working and doing makeup brings me so much happiness. Living in paradise and doing what I love makes me a very blessed woman.

My call time was at 8:15am but you know I’m always early so I arrived at 7:30am and I emailed my contact person at 8am. I knew that I would have to get a guest pass to enter and go through security so I wanted to make sure I gave myself enough time to do that.

What a great welcomed I received when the contact person from United Airlines came to get me from the counter. Hugs and kisses, that was so sweet and a beautiful way to be welcome. She brought me over to the ticket counter to get a pass then escorted me through security. They asked me to bring very minimal items because of going through TSA. But you know me I’m always an over packer. The only thing I didn’t bring was my L’OREAL Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray. I didn’t have any of my mini’s on me I only had one regular size and I knew that wouldn’t get through.

They had me set up in the beautiful United Airlines Lounge. The shoot was only 2 hours with one male talent, United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz. Everything went so effortlessly the company that booked me and the United Airlines staff were also so chill and professional. While the shoot was going on I sat back in read Modern Luxury Hawaii magazine. Perfect magazine to learn about all the luxurious stores and products that’s here in Hawaii.

They got the talent In & Out swiftly. Overall it was a very easy assignment and I’m grateful and blessed that I was called.

Now I’m heading to pick up my baby Queen B.

A Beautiful Sunday In Oahu Hawaii

img_3726Aloha 🤙🏾🌸🌺 such a beautiful morning. I started my day at home in Ewa Beach just walking the beautiful tranquil beach that I’m blessed and grateful to have access to.  I’m trying to start a Sunday morning routine here in Hawaii. Waking up, walking on the beach, collecting my thoughts 💭being mindful having ME TIME with myself and GOD sounds like a plan.

Today the fam and I are going to go check out the Surf Grom in Waikiki. Definitely sounds like fun, I just want to attend any and every event that I can. I wanna be where the Hawaii locals are and  learn genuinely learn the culture because I’m now going to calling Hawaii home.

I was so impressed today with the young surfer kids who were all so talented working the surfboard like pro’s out on the beach. I was schooled on what a GROM was, it’s a young kid, usually under the age of 15, that likes to surf or skateboard I also learned some new surfer lingo and slang today. Surfing In The Pocket means The pocket is the most powerful part of the wave, just ahead of where the wave is breaking. It was actually cool just watching these boys & girls do their thing out there.

On our way back from the Surf Grom we took a scenic route back home on Kalaniana’ole Hwy in Hawaii’Kai. What a beautiful view that every shot I captured looked like a picture from a postcard.

img_3807

As you can see we haven’t gotten enough of being outside and being on the beach that when we got home we dropped our bags and went back to the beach to unwind and relax. Jordan ordered a ceasar salad and of course I got a Blue Mermaid and we will just sit here until the sun goes down. Living in Hawaii is really cool, having access to all this I feel like I won the lottery.

Our First Saturday At Home In Hawaii

img_2997It’s a beautiful Saturday morning. I find myself waking up early just listening to the birds, writing beauty articles and enjoying my new life here in Hawaii.

Still can’t believe that I’m calling Hawaii home. The Hawaii locals are all amazing, we have met some really chill peeps and I look forward to meeting more and doing things in the community just like I was doing on the mainland.

Today we were invited to see this young surfer compete at Surf Grom, I think we will go check it out tomorrow in Waikiki. Today I just wanna spend my day on the beach with my son creating some new content and just enjoying my new lifestyle.

As you know I’m from NOLA so I’m always craving seafood so while we were on theimg_3713 beach we started looking up what seafood joint was near the house and we found a spot called, Da Crawfish and Crabshack. Sounds like my kind of place, so New Orleans. So after we left the beach we washed up and went to Da Crawfish and Crabshack in Kapolei. The owner was so very kind to take us because they stp seating at 8:45pm the hostess said but he came over and said that we could stay, just place our order fast so the cooks can wrap up for the evening. Now that’s what I call GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Just because of that I will talk about how great this place is to anyone that ask me about a seafood spot. So, let’s talk about this menu of Da Crawfish and Crabshack. Everything sound good, and we decided on Combo 1 and Combo 2. Can I just tell you how impressed I was with the portion and the taste of the Cajun Sauce. My mouth is still watering just thinking about it. Our server Jacob, was excellent. He was on his job making sure we were ok, that ou drinks were filled.

img_3719

Da Crawfish and Crabshack Combo 1 consist of; Snow Crab Legs, Clams, Mussels, Shrimp, Crawfish, Potatoes, and some type of Sausage.

Da Crawfish and Crabshack Combo 2 consist of: Dungeness Crab, Clams, Mussels, Shrimp, Crawfish, Potatoes, and some type of Sausage.

img_3734-1

It was so much that we had to bring half of our food home to finish it. It was so worth the market price and we definitely plan on returning. So, if ever in Kapolei, Hawaii you have to stop at this restaurant, just call to get the correct hours. I don’t want you to miss out on GREAT SEAFOOD.

How I Shipped My Car From Connecticut To Hawaii

img_1916My road dog, Queen B is leaving me today. She Ready…For Paradise!

We decided that we could ship only one car to Hawaii and sell the other. Because Queen B is so fly…I won! I have a mature Lincoln MKZ but girlfriend is still clean, she’s spotless, she still drive excellent and shit, she still sexy that I could not part from her in Hawaii. I have my eyes set on the Lincoln Continental, have you seen her? #iDie

Today we had Cargo Management Group, Inc based out of Massachusetts  come out to pick up Queen B to take her on a long drive to Long Beach, California.

So what I learned about how all this shipping cars and furniture work is that it’s more than one company involved. The next company to receive the car will be Matson Ocean Shipping,  a transportation services company who’s headquartered is  in Honolulu, Hawaii. We were given a tracking number so that we can check to see where Queen B is at all time. I’ll be checking on her often. I’ll keep y’all posted on how Matson Ocean Shipping treats my girl. Before I gave over my keys I took tons of pics and also my mileage to be sure that everything is in place when she arrives to Hawaii.

They ask that we only have 1/4 of gas in the car because any more than that could add a lot of extra weight to your vehicle that could cause problems for the shipper at a weigh station. They also ask for you to remove any valuables in the car because they won’t be responsible for anything stolen. I wish companies would be held accountable as long as they have the key they should be held responsible. So, I just took everything out.

The driver from Cargo Management Group, Inc also, taking pics

I will be in Hawaii in 8 days so I’ll keep you posted on my reunion with Queen B and I’ll let you know how the service was with both companies, Cargo Management Group, Inc and Matson shipping.

Oh, I have my eyes set on the Lincoln Continental, have you seen her? #iDie

Celebrity Makeup Artist And Beauty Blogger Moving From The Mainland To Hawaii

img_1666Today is a big day for the Gomez-Duplessis Family. We have shippers coming through all day to give us estimates for our move to Hawaii. This is the most expensive part of the move and the most stressful part as well. But at the end it’s going to all be worth it. Because I’m getting my health back. This is really the reason why we’re moving. My Lupus, RA and Asthma is kicking my ass up here so I need to be in a warmer climate with better air quality.

We decided to go with Hawaii Moving Pros to ship our furniture. Our Moving Coordinator from Hawaii Moving Pros has been very efficient and accessible throughout the entire planning.

So, how do you pack a 5 bedroom home and make it fit a pod for a studio/1 bedroom home? You need lots of alcohol and you cry, shit you need an entire bottle of alcohol. Let me tell you, this is so hard purging and deciding on what to ship to Hawaii. It’s not the same feeling when we lost the entire home to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans but it’s high on the emotion list. I tell you what, because of this move I’ve learned that we’re hoarders, no really. I think because of Hurricane Katrina that I try to keep everything pertaining to the kids, my husband and all of my achievements and awards. The great thing is I can just google myself to see things that I’ve done. So, when I look at it that way, it makes it easier to throw away things away about myself.

img_1920
My Soul Sista Buddha, we don’t know yet if she’s able to travel with us due to her size.

I have managed to do a lot online with setting up the family lifestyle for success. Things like digital interviews with Field Executives for Estée Lauder, virtual tours of the house with Angela our Leasing Professional, getting eRenterPlan Insurance, and setting up cable/wifi service with Spectrum. The next thing we have set up is for Queen B, my car to be picked up this week.

img_1670

I’m a fan of Z Gallerie home decor and stylish chic furniture store so I have a lot of great pieces from there especially wall art and large wall mirrors. I’m not ready yet to part from any of my things from Z Gallerie but unfortunately I have to. Because it’s costing me so much to ship my really big pieces. So, on Saturday, I’m giving them away to a few families from Columbia who just moved to Connecticut. So I know they will appreciate these fab pieces but it’s going to be hard to part from them.

I’m not shipping any of our outdoor living set up either. In Hawaii we will have a nice yard to start all over with so thinking about that project make it easier to say goodbye. I’ll be able to plant exotic flowers and have more trees and even a beach to enjoy daily.

So, if anyone from the mainland wants to know how we managed to move to Hawaii just shoot me a comment and I’ll answer them for you. I’ll continue to share about our Pro’s vs Con’s of moving to Hawaii and I’ll link the companies that we used along with feedback. This is going to be a great chapter in my book.

ALOHA

My Fabulous Day At The Wendy Williams Show

img_1731Every morning at 10am I watched the Wendy Williams show and if I’m working, I set my DVR and I watch her when I get home regardless of what time of the night it is because I have to get my Wendy Williams fix.  She’s definitely my friend in my head, I even talk back to her like we having a private conversation during “HOT TOPICS”. I have to support my friend, whether it’s watching her show or fighting her battles on The Shaderoom. I’m here for my girl,  she just don’t know it.

So you can imagine how I felt when she fainted last year, when she was out sick due to her health and had to have other guest hosts on the show. I was miserable, I was devastated, I wanted her to know that she has a team of both women and men that loves on her. That she’s not alone.

As many of you know that I will be in Hawaii full time starting at the end of the month. Because of this reason I had to hurry to go see Wendy Williams before leaving. Hubby said he would go with me because he know how much I admire Wendy. So off we go to the city. For us it’s a 1 hour and 43 mins drive to the city. I usually take the train which is longer, 2 hours and then add on another 23 mins to drive home.

So upon arriving at 12 noon there was already a line forming outside the studio, all of today’s CO-HOST was friendly and dressed to the nines. Her staff was professional and very efficient. So once you get through security they bring you to the holding room/waiting area. You’re giving a sheet with suggested questions to ask Wendy. We didn’t see anything that we wanted to ask or had questions about. On the sheet at the bottom they tell you that you can create your own question if you didn’t see one above. So, a CO-HOST saw us struggling with what question can we ask of Wendy. So, she stared coming up with questions and finally after about 15 of her suggestions we went with a topic about our daughter who’s 26 years of age who recently moved out. So, Michael writes the question down and I write down a question about our 21 year old son. Guess who get called, Michael (lmao). His face was priceless, so he went to talk with Wendy’s team then I get called to the back. So, they ask if we could come back for another segment and that the producer would be in touch. Well, with our tight timeline, I hope it happens.

So we go back to our seat, shortly after they started calling the CO-HOST’S by their seating sections. We were seated in section W. As you enter you can hear the music bumping and I mean bumping. DJ Boof had me thinking I was at the club getting my Happy Hour own. Shit, I was looking for a waitress to ask for a glass of champagne. Once we got to our sections, one of the producers asked me to sit on the end so I did. Then once in my seat you know I had to pull out the camera to take selfies and check my makeup and hair. Shortly after Marco G, came out to hype everyone up and to select peeps to come up to entertain us with their best dance moves. That damn Marco G, is a mess! He has the best personality EVER. The shit that comes out his mouth, (smh).

Queen Wendy comes out with her bodyguard who follows her every step. She looks amazing and she has great skin! All of us CO-HOST screamed and chanted our ass off when she walked through those doors.  The show is filmed and the same order as you see it on television. Yes, the studio is cold, so I listened and wore a denim jacket because my dress was sleeveless and my back was out. But I wanted a bright color dress to wear with my new lipstick color “Bougie” from my makeup line Entitled Beauty. Plus, I didn’t want a Lupus flare so I kept my jacket on the entire show.

img_1837-1

We were on last Friday show and the special guest was Sherri Shepherd. The show was everything I could ask for. The only thing that was missing was the cocktails. We wrapped about 3:45pm and headed back to Connecticut.

While stuck in traffic I had a great time making “How You Doin” videos. On our way home we were both HANGRY, so we stopped for dinner at Brio. We got there for 6pm and was silent as we enjoyed our meal and our course COCKTAILS.

If you’re a Wendy Williams fan definitely get tickets to go see her. It was a great experience. LOVE YOU WENDY WILLIAMS!
