We Had A Time Last Night

We had a time last night. Living in Hawaii and by the beach it’s always a party down there for any holiday. I enjoy being barefoot grounding in the sand instead of in fabulous painful 3 inch heels. What made this evening so much fun was that nothing was planned. Hubby and I was just excited about the evening and bringing in the new year together. Hubby got home around 6pm and I got off at 9pm. We managed to make it down to the beach around 10:30pm.

And here’s how I brought in the new year.

Day 2 After Having A Bad Lupus Flare

One of the great things about living in Hawaii is when you are on bed rest the view, the breeze, the exotic birds make for bad days in bed not so bad. Then when you’re ready to leave the house it’s just beautiful anywhere you go. So, let’s go backwards, I started feeling bad about 2 weeks ago. I just assumed it’s a flare up. My body started to go down fast, very fast. I don’t know what caused the flare up but this one took me down. I don’t know if I was exposed to COVID but I was ready for a trip to the ER. I started calling the kids to make sure they know where everything was. I’m serious the body aches was unbearable, I was back to using my breathing machine because I couldn’t breathe. I was going through my inhaler. The day the got me was when I decided to wash all of the bedding. Took everything off the bed, went downstairs to the laundry room came back upstairs and half way up the stairs I fell on the stairs and had to crawl back to the room because I couldn’t catch my breath. I didn’t leave the house I just went downstairs and my body couldn’t handle it. I didn’t have any strength to put fresh sheets on the bed. I just collapsed on the bed.

I know a lot of my peers cannot understand what Lupus is and what a Lupus flare can be like. I wish I had strength to hold a camera to show what it looks like. It’s the worse thing ever for someone to go through. It’s day 2, my left ide of my ribs and back hurt so bad. It feels like I been stomped numerous of time it still hurt to breathe. I feel like I’m going through my inhalers and if it continue then I will make an appointment. As long as I don’t overdue it I can make myself look decent and nobody would ever know what went through. Working from home helps a lot because I can slowly get back to normal at my own speed. Thank God for my hair and makeup skills because I know how to fix myself up.

Lunch Date With Hubby At Mina’s House At The Four Seasons

As a married woman one of the things that has kept our marriage successful of 25 years is having lunch dates. Because we both have really busy schedules and work long hours we like to have off days together when possible. One of our favorite spots that we like to dine at that’s close to the house is Mina’s Fish House at The Four Season’s Hotel. The funny thing, every time we visit during Happy Hour we always get the same table which I don’t mind because the view is fantastic. Actually, the first time we dined there we sat at the bar and that was nice too.

It’s Libra Season…Happy Birthday To Me

It’s Libra Season and the month of October is mine. 51 years ago I was born on October 13th. I’ve done so many amazing parties for myself when I was in my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s that this year I plan to keep it simple and relaxing here in Hawaii. I just wanted the beach, a cabana and lots of Citrus Frose from the Beach House Roy Yamaguchi’s Restaurant in Turtle Bay Resort. But of course I started my morning with a few glasses of mimosas.

Do you feel you’re the sign you were born under. For me, I’m a TRUE LIBRA. They can put my face under LIBRA, I hate drama, I hate negative, mean, and angry people. I remember growing up my mom use to always tell me that I love the underdog. I am very outspoken and I don’t have a problem checking a person for someone not being treated fair. That I always want the world to be peaceful and that I live in a fantasy world. Maybe that’s why I live in Hawaii. It’s the closet to living in peace and being around positive people.

I had a great day, but you know what, I have a great day everyday. Come on, I live in Hawaii. Living in paradise on a beautiful island is everything you think it is. I had over 4 of those drinks, I ate well and the weather and breeze was perfect that I took one of those good good naps. I slept good that my makeup smeared. (LMAO). I find that I always get the best sleep on the beach, what about you?

On Set At Valley Of The Temples Memorial Park

Honolulu Hawaii Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis On Set
Sales Manager Jeff Short from Valley Of The Temples

When female producer Elizabeth reached out to me about today’s assignment I said yes because I am always excited to work with a female producer, a talented one at that. Then when she shared that the location would be at Valley Of The Temples Memorial Park I was excited because it’s one of the many beautiful places here in Hawaii. Not only is it a gorgeous cemetery but they have the The Byodo-In Temple, it’s a non-denominational Buddhist to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. Everywhere on the park is a beautiful view that you would not mind spending hours on location here.

Like any assignment call time is early and we wrapped early. My day started at 5am and ended at 12 noon. It was a very small crew and we all stayed safe and masked except for when Jeff had to speak on camera. It feels good to being on set again. It wasn’t a big production but because of the pandemic we have to still be careful. For me I’m very picky about doing makeup and the type of clients that I work with. For now, it’s only production companies because everyone stays safe when not working.

If you coming to Hawaii to film or speak at an event in you need makeup, definitely look me up.

I live the ALOHA Lifestyle so my 50 looks good

What Does The New 50 Look Like?! When I was a little girl, hearing the age 50 to me meant old or walking with a cane. Now that I’m 50 I don’t see that same picture of what a 50 year old person should look like. I use to ask my mom if she’s sure about my birthday because I’m not looking my age. But hunty, I feel my age. I once fallen while hiking on a wet rock and that fall took me out for days. So, yeah I don’t look 50 but my body feels 90.

Let me say this, I’m not someone that eats healthy, I drank Pepsi and Coke’s about 5 cans a day. I know its horrible for me and for my auto immune but I can’t stop drinking them, I don’t drink a lot of water. I love rum and champagne. I’m not big on exercising so my body is a little run down in the inside. But what I do well is, I take care of my skin with great skincare from La Mer & Armani and on my body beacuse I’m a beach bum, I love Sol de Janeiro products. I keep only positive things and people around me. I’m a happy person, I laugh a lot, I take naps when my body tells me and I spend a lot of time at the beach. So, that keeps my spirit happy and it shows on youthful face, I guess. I really live the ALOHA Lifestyle.

What is the ALOHA Lifestyle you ask. Here in Hawaii, ALOHA is a way of living, an attitude and expresses guidelines to help us in our lives. It’s kindness, patience, compassion, respect, togetherness, affection, empathy, peace, & love.

At the end of the day age is nothing but a number. Just live your life positive, stop being angry and do things that makes you happy.

Enjoying My Spring Break Every Day At Home In Hawaii

This weekend all I saw on the news and on social media was media coverage about the Spring Break crowd in Miami, Florida. When I was of age, early 20’s under 25 let me stress that I particpated with friends getting together and traveling during our break. Of course this was years ago and not during a pandemic. As I got older whenever my girlfriends and I wanted to get together for a break or mini vacation we planned accordingly and did private lodging. We never went anywhere with the attitude of destroying places /things and being violent with others while on holiday. It was so sad to see the young adults this weekend be so disrespectful to the city of Miami, Florida.

I have a 23 year old son who visited Miami, Florida when he was 21 with his friends and the energy and his experience was totally different. They partied with respect, they enjoyed the beautiful culture, the delicious food, drinked high end drinks, danced until the morning light came up and made it back to their hotel safetly.

Before moving to Hawaii I would always do fun getaways with friends like renting an island or go on a fancy glamping trip. Be creative and take time with your planning so that you can do fun and luxurious destinations trips. Traveling should be rewarding and if you need to get away during a pandemic, do it safe and keep it fabulous! So, I kept the same energy as I got older and now I enjoy my private beach and living the lifestyle I want here in Hawaii.

As a woman, an adult, and a mother it was defintely creepy watching the older crowd mingling with the kids out there. I still think anyone that’s 26 and older that is out in Miami during these kids Spring Break should be ashame of themselves. Do you agree with me?

How I Achieved My Hawaii Beach Look Using Mineral Makeup

img_1290Living here in Hawaii on Oahu island is like being on vacation everyday. But if you’re a full face makeup wearer like myself sometimes it can be a little challenging when it comes to makeup. The weather here is summer everyday and during the summer the sun is no joke. As a boogie down brown woman I can get a really good tan just by being outside for 30 mins. So, on days when I am going to the beach I try to give myself a softer makeup look and I select long wearing products that will stay all day as much as it possibly can. The great thing for me is that I have my own makeup line, Entitled Beauty and it’s a mineral base brand so it doesn’t cause me to break out when I’m out in the sun sweating. The last thing you want to feel is the makeup dripping down your face and with Entitled Beauty the makeup feels weightless and it’s breathable. My pores are not getting as clogged and it’s not irritating my skin.

I posted a picture of myself on Instagram and Twitter and I received so many great compliments asking about my makeup so I thought I would share what makeup I had on. I didn’t take the best pictures of myself so excuse the quality but hopefully you can see what my beach day makeup look was. I was at the beach all day and evening as you can tell in the video.

It’s Aloha Friday And We Talking About Upscale Restaurants In Hawaii

We Fancy Huh…Two luxurious spots in Hawaii we can’t wait to revisit

Everyone knows that Hawaii is PARADISE! And while the first hotspot that everyone wants to visit in Oahu is Waikiki, the girls have two other upscale beach life locations that tickle their fancy.

For Aloha Friday we always like to spotlight local businesses in Hawaii that we love to visit. Sometimes, we spotlight places that tourists may not know about and sometimes we will. We’re just two girls from the mainland who is lucky to live in Hawaii.

Co-Host Julia Rebolo is a fan of “Orchids”located inside of Halekulani Hotel in Honolulu, and Co-Host Brandy Gomez-Duplessis is obsessed with Monkey Pod Kitchen on the west side in Ko Olina.

So once you get to Hawaii, definitely add these two restaurants to your list of luxurious dining to visit.
