Page Six Magazine Behind The Seams:Donna Karan

http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js _uacct = “UA-3446372-1”; urchinTracker();

On July 26th I went to Donna Karan office on 7th Ave to do the makeup for The New York Post, Page Six Magazine photo shoot. It was an honor to do makeup on the ladies who work at Donna Karan design house. When I found out later that day it was going to be in Page Six I was elated because I grew up reading that column and have always wanted to be in it. Kristen Fleming did a great article on some of the talented people who work behind the scene called “Behind The Seams”.

Donna Karan’s empire on Seventh Avenue anchors a frenetic, grimy stretch of the Garment District. But within the whitewashed, winding walls of her flagship office, the atmosphere is all urban zen. A delicate quiet envelopes the workplace, where employees are decked mostly in neutral tones and the requisite black.
Aliza Licht, 37, senior vice president of global communications, adds a splash of color with feminine red heels and a dramatic origami skirt from the label’s 2009 resort collection.
Anyone working for the label encounters a lot of black, Licht says. “But I love red.
And I believe in dressing up every day.”
Felita Harris, 36, in a curve-hugging magenta Donna Karan jersey dress, agrees. “I always feel that women are appropriately dressed when they’re in a dress,” says the global sales senior vice president. “And our jersey dresses make you feel sexy, confident and timeless.”
Although the brand is an anthem of the style of monochromatic New Yorkers, merchandising vice president Nancy Pelton insists that most pieces from her Donna Karan–packed closet fit in well in Milan, where she frequently works. “I’d call my style ‘bohemian luxury,’  ” Pelton says.
For Licht, who spends days meeting with celebrity handlers and editors, dressing is a competitive sport. Her daily mantra: “Who’s the lucky outfit going to be today?”

Burberry Beauty Effortless Makeup Collection

Just recently I had the opportunity to play with Burberry Beauty full cosmetics collection. What a treat that was, Glamxurious! Like any woman, I was drawn to the stunning packaging. I imagined the products sitting on my mirror vanity like a beautifully designed perfume bottle. I really love seeing the Burberry trademarked check pattern etched into the makeup and the cosmetics packaging.
Very soon the elegant women of New York will be able to see for themselves how amazing the Burberry collection and brushes really are. The effortless makeup look that I selected to do that day was a soft beauty day look and Burberry has just the right colors with many to select. After lusting over the packaging, I was very happy to see that this collection lives up to not only the packaging but also my critical makeup standards.

Some of my favorite must have items were:
Burberry Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation $52.00
a sheer lightweight floundation that is easily buildable if more coverage was needed
Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow $29.00
soft classic colors with just enough color for both a day/evening makeup look
Burberry Lip Definer Shaping Pencil $27.00
a sleek thin pencil that is very creamy and gives great color to the lip
Burberry Lipcover Soft Satin Lipstick $30.00
a satin texture that glides on very smooth depositing a beautiful color
Burberry Lip Glow Natural Lipgloss $27.00
a soft texture that gives the right amount of color and shine for the day/evening

So if your a fan of this iconic brand’s trenchcoats, scarves, and handbags, then you can now add the brand’s heritage Burberry tan makeup colors. I’m sure the color Trench will be a popular must have color for many. I’ll see you ladies at Fashion Night Out with more details to come.

Central Park Bride on Thursday Morning

http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js My Orange County, California bride renewed her vows in New York at Central Park on Thursday. Britney and her groom had an intimate wedding with very close friends and family present. Britney had 4 bridesmaids with one being a male who was hilarious. His personality was very similar to actor Scott Caan.
Britney accent color was yellow and the makeup look she wanted was Hollywood glam. I used the L’OREAL Paris eyeshadow from Paris that has not hit the shelves yet on Britney and L’OREAL Paris ravishing red on her lips. To achieve the strong eye she wanted I used my favorite eyeliner, L’OREAL Paris HIP Cream eyeliner in black.
See why I have one of the best jobs in the world…random pictures I took of the bride and her family.

Vogue TV Shoot for Sperry Top-Sider

Room where we will be doing hair, makeup, lunch, and hanging out

http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js Today’s shoot is one that I can now scratch off my “TO DO” list. Like so many makeup artists, hair stylists, models, photographers, stylists, I have always wanted to get booked for an assignment with VOGUE. To be in The September Issue is my next goal but for now I’m grateful to have been booked on a shoot with VOGUE TV. The client Sperry Top-Sider is a brand that has been around since my childhood and such an honor to know that they were going to be a part of the assignment.

.

The makeup & hair they wanted were the classic beach look. Effortless hair & makeup so I kept the makeup fresh and youthful by using bronzers, with pink and nude lips.

Working with the Famous Kennedy family

http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js _uacct = “UA-3446372-1”; urchinTracker(); While in the East Hampton on Friday Christina Haag former girlfriend of John F. Kennedy, Jr stop by the Magaschoni store to shop and at some point she came over to the makeup table. About 5 or 6 ladies was at the table talking while Tiffany and I was doing makeup. I mentioned that I had the opportunity to do 2 Kennedy’s. We all laughed and I had to reword it because it didn’t come out correctly.

I remember working with Robert Kennedy Jr this year at Sundance Film Festival. He was there for his movie “The Last Mountains” and I had to do his makeup for press junkets.

ROBERT F. KENNEDY, Jr
I could not remember the name of the Kennedy I worked with in 2007 for TJ MAXX & Save The Children. It was going to drive me crazy so I finally figured out his name after researching, it’s Mark Shiver Kennedy. Then I found pictures and a video that I have never seen. Excited because I had 2 small cameos in the video. So here is a blast from the past:
MARK SHIVER KENNEDY

Inspired by Royal Pains star Reshma & Deep’s Indian Wedding

When Ceci Johnson booked me I was honor to work with actress Reshma Shetty from Royal Pains TV show on USA Networks. Being that I am a fan of the show I knew how amazing Reshma skin was and what makeup look I wanted to give her. Normally on the show her makeup is very natural so I wanted to give her bold red lips and use gold eyeshadows. Still keeping her makeup classic but glamxurious.

With Ceci, a makeup junkie like myself I decided to use bold eyeshadow colors on her. I selected pink & green eyeshadow getting my inspiration from her beautiful jeweled dress. On Ceci lips I wanted it to be glossy and soft so I selected a soft baay pink lipstick and topped it off witha high shine gloss.
