SPRING MAKEUP LOOK WITH ECOTOOLS

My fab girl Ilse McDonnell of Live Learn Luxe It wrote such a glamxurious post today that I have to share with my fab readers…enjoy, because I know I did.

————————————————————————–

Ilse Glow Article

Spring does something to me. It’s like all I want to do is embrace color and bathe in the welcomed sunshine. My husband always jokes that, “little Bub (aka me) doesn’t like the cold,” and laughs at how quickly I bundle up if just the slightest breeze comes my way. So to say I’m happy warmer days are here is an understatement.

That’s why today is a pretty special day. I’ve partnered with EcoTools at Ulta to bring you a fresh-faced, pop-of-color spring makeup look that is sure to kiss my – and your – winter blues buh-bye! The focus is all about creating a dewy, flawless face and embracing color for spring. Click here to read the article in full.

Behind The Glam Scene Of NBA ALL STAR Weekend

Regardless of how many years I have been the NBA Key Makeup Artist I get excited about the first day like I’m in high school. My makeup kit is ready at the front door, my clothes laid out and it’s a production getting ready, music on, food and drinks ordered, selfies being taken. When I know I am going to have a long day and I know I’ll be taking lots of pics of myself I use L’OREAL Paris Infallible foundation.

All of the credentials for my team

Here is the hair & makeup room for the talents, the headliners have a different green room

I have known Shannon since I opened my first makeup store in New Orleans, she started out as a client then later started doing makeup. Luv her!

My team captains for all 3 days, all of these amazing people worked with me for the last NBA All Star’s in New Orleans but also for so many other different assignments. If you do great work and have great energy I will call you every time I need hair & makeup in New Orleans. The rest of the team will arrive Saturday& Sunday.

Getting a touch up by my favorite girl Shannon…did I tell you how much I luv her!

Getting a little hair touch up to….Glam Life Of A Makeup Artist

Now it’s time to do some real work, started our day with getting Megan Miller ready. I’ve worked with Megan before so it’s always a treat working with repeat talent.

Using Stila cosmetics custom color blush in coral on Megan

Carl is being teased because he hates being on camera and is not a fan of social media

Hey Erin…Erin was my personal hairstylist in New Orleans. She’s TALENTED!

Nicole is the NBA Host and another sweet girl that I always enjoy getting makeup ready. Her skin is FLAWLESS!

Shannon got jokes, she’s imitating MOI and how I apply makeup with love to my clients

Your Invited To Attend My Skincare Party

img_3923-1Hi Guys!

It’s your favorite Makeup Artist! I recently took a leap of faith by joining with the award winning skincare company Rodan+Fields. I’m so elated about using the products on myself and sharing these products with you.

So before anyone freaks out I will still be doing freelance makeup but I hope this will be a great way to bring in extra income. But I will now have a signature skincare collection that I will be able to prep my clients with. As you all know that skincare is very important to me. I always tell my clients if you want a flawless makeup application then you have to take care of the skin first. So it doesn’t matter how expensive the makeup is if your skin is not being cared for your makeup will not look good. #justsaying

I hope you can join me on Monday, March 20th at 8:30pm to hear what we love about thlash boost 3is business and products. In less than 45-minutes, we will share information about how Rodan+Fields skincare can change your life and your skin.So grab a cocktail, sit back and hopefully you’ll get some shopping done as well. The two items I’m using are: Lash Boost & the Redefine line. I’m really excited about the results of Lash Boost as you know I lost my lashes & brows because of the lupus & lyme.

In the meantime, please feel free to visit my websites to read a little more: If you would like to attend leave me a comment so I can send you an invite..See Ya Bye & Luv U Mean It!

How many times have you watched your favorite TV show and one of the characters was getting hair and makeup glam while at home? Well, ladies don’t envy anymore, starting the first day of spring I will be offering on location luxury makeup concierge services to the ladies of Connecticut. No more leaving your home, you can now join your favorite reality housewives and say you have a Real Celebrity Makeup Artist to the stars, Brandy Gomez-Duplessis (Jennifer Aniston, Viola Davis, Allison Janney, and Ellie Goulding) that comes to you. My elite lifestyle demands me to be current with trends, beauty, skincare and fashion.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis workingon Felita HarrisI started my concierge service when I lived in New Orleans over 10 years ago, making house calls to my clients. When I moved to New York I continued offering the services, the ladies on the Upper East Side and West Side really enjoyed having this luxury service. Women are always on the go, sometimes they miss their appointments because it can be a hassle rushing to get to the salon especially if you’re a mom with young children.

Other added amenities I offer are private makeup lessons, group makeup classes, a beauty shopping concierge service whittling down your daily makeup bag to a few well-chosen day-to-night basics, and custom wedding packages where I can stay with you the entire time.

This is a upscale on demand beauty service that I know the ladies in Connecticut will appreciate.  I enjoy making women look and feel glamxurious. I can see the women using my services for all their special events, gala, brunch, wedding, birthdays, girl’s night out and any other special occasion.

Behind The Scenes Of A Makeup Artist At Work In New York

On Saturday I went to the city to do a photo shoot with 2 fabulous women, Felita Harris who’s a SVP in Fashion, and Tracey Baker Simmons a Exec Producer. Our talented photographer Karriem who does a lot of fashion and portraits work captured everything the ladies was bringing.

Whenever we work together lots of beautiful magic happens. I started working with the ladies in July 2011 and every time it’s a party. Felita sent me a storyboard of where they wanted to go with their fashion so it gave me ideas on how I wanted to do both of their makeup. The ladies always let me do my artistry sometimes I push it, but they know at the end it will be fabulous. Each time I try to give them something new something different, plusI always want to try out my new makeup.

Enough of my rambling see for yourself how much fun we had and all the gorgeousness that happen…Inside The Life Of A Makeup Artist

Ridgefield Master Hair Stylist Shares Her Top 5 Dry Shampoos

Blowout Hair Style.jpg

Do you ever get sick of the white residue some dry shampoos leave behind? Well, I do! Some have horrible scents and get all over your clothing.

In this industry preservation is key!  You want that blow out to last more than one day and you most certainly do not want your hair looking flat or oily.
I always get asked about my hair so I thought I’ll go straight to the source. Meet my hairstylist, Master Stylist & Owner Of MC Hair Designs. Maghen does a great job with my hair, I always joke that she gives me Victoria Secret hair.
I asked Maghen exactly what is a DRY SHAMPOO? Maghen explained that a Dry Shampoo’s is designed to help absorb your hair natural oils so that you can extend that style few more days without having to wash it.  They also deodorize and help maintain volume in the hair. I then asked Maghen to tell me her Top 5 Dry Shampoo’s, here’s what she shared with me.
Maghen Cook
Master Hairstylist Maghen Cook

1. KEVIN.MURPHY- FRESH.HAIR

Dry cleaning spray-removes odors and excess oils- spray evenly throughout hair holding the spray about 5 inches away from root then brush through.
2. Wella- EIMI- DRY ME
As the bottle states, “Shake me, Spray me, Style me.”  This dry shampoo absorbs oils that weigh down your hair- leaves a matte look- spray in and brush
3. Style Edit- Invisible Dry Shampoo
Clear mist VERY lightweight
4. Unwash Dry Cleanser
Rather than using Talc Powder in their spray like most other dry shampoos, Unwash uses Volcanic Ash and has a light fruity scent to it that will not clash with any perfume you are wearing.
5. ALTERNA- Bamboo Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo
This is a Katie Holmes favorite as well as mine!  This dry shampoo has a stiffer feel to it for those woman who have a hard time keeping volume in their hair after the first day its blown out. I’m such a scent person I love how the Mango and Coconut smell in my clients hair.  If you want to keep the blowout I gave you three days ago this is a go to!

Tips To Keeping Your Blowout Lasting For A Week

  • Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis

Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis

Whenever I treat myself to fabulous hair I want it to last as long as possible. Recently I went to see my Master Hairstylist, Meghan Cook owner of MC Hair Designs in Ridgefield because I was being interviewed for a beauty article by Lifestyle Blogger Ilse Mc Donnell of Live Learn Luxe It. With a busy week of work and makeup classes I need my hair to last.

Because I use to travel a lot I’ve learned how to maintain my blowout while on the road. Once you get use to doing this regardless of your hair type you will feel like you got your money worth.

I always get asked about my hair so I’ll share with you the great hair tips that Meghan has given me.  It doesn’t matter that I have coarse hair, you will be able to maintain your locks by following these tips, I promise.

  1. I’m a hair flipper but during the week I have to keep my hands out of my hair because the grease/sweat in my hands will give me limp hair.
  2. My hair frizz very quick so Meghan always uses Kevin Murphy Smooth Again in my hair. If it’s a humid week ask your stylist to use a smoothing gel.
  3. If you must go to the gym that week make sure you bring with you a headband/ hair ring to keep the moisture out of your hair.
  4. Before going to bed I put my hair in a ponytail and lightly spray my hair with Oribe Texturizing Spray or L’OREAL Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray.
  5. I use a satin pillowcase to sleep on, I like SLIP to help from getting frizzy hair in the morning.
  6. By day 4 I use Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Shampoo to keep my hair looking and smelling fresh.
  7. By day 5 I still put my hair up in a ponytail but in the morning I use Dry Bar High Tops Self Grip Rollers.
  8. I always use Dry Bar Lemon Drop Daily Detangler to brush through my hair so that I don’t come out my curls. It’s also great on
