It’s always a concert or production for me when I’m getting ready. Plus, I just like to entertain myself. I’m a hair flip girl, y’all know how I do 😂 so I need L’Oreal Paris to hold me down. And Queen Janet Jackson would be so proud 🤙🏾🌸🌺

Do y’all remember I use to be a L’Oreal Pro Makeup Artist so I always used L’Oreal hair products. Elnett was my go to hairspray. OMG, the scent, it should be a candle 😂

Hawaii Celebrity Makeup Artist is Looking To Staff A Glam Team For The NBA All Star Weekend 2020

Working On The Upper West Side On Saturday Afternoon

It was a great work day for me today. Anytime I get a call from my clients to come to their home in New York to get them hair & makeup ready for their events it’s always a glam time. Plus, it was a beautiful day in New York that I could have stayed in the city all day.

My client Kristi is someone that I met on set a few years ago. We hit it off instantly, she is such a fun girl and is very easy to work with.

Kristi is attending the EV 100 Gala at the Essex House. It’s a big event for the Estonian community and Kristi wanted to look like a princess so she called me to come to her home on the Upper East Side to do her hair and makeup. I find that I do more in-home services for makeup in New York then I do in Connecticut.

Grabbing a bite to eat at The Ribbon before heading up to Kristi. This is where I met my my friends Ken Pao & Fady. Ken is a photographer and Fady Malki is a hairstylist. Can’t wait to do some great work with them this spring/summer.

Getting A Connecticut Mom Cabaret Ready

I started my morning by getting the fabulous Ridgefield Connecticut mom and cabaret singer makeup ready at her home for her performance. Wendy will be opening for Metro Star winner David Baida at the Metropolitan Room in New York. On Friday, April 28th she will be performing her highly acclaimed new solo show, New SCHERL In Town and I am so elated about doing her makeup again for this big night. I love being a part of her glam team seeing Wendy get all glamxurious, she really enjoys it. Some clients will tell me they want something natural with their makeup for an evening look but Wendy love a good beat face. So on Friday night I will make a few changes to the makeup look I gave her today because it’s her opening night. The other half of the glam team who did Wendy’s blowout was done by hairstylist Maghen Cook of MC Hair Designs in Ridgefield, CT.

Ridgefield Master Hair Stylist Shares Her Top 5 Dry Shampoos

Do you ever get sick of the white residue some dry shampoos leave behind? Well, I do! Some have horrible scents and get all over your clothing.

In this industry preservation is key! You want that blow out to last more than one day and you most certainly do not want your hair looking flat or oily.

I always get asked about my hair so I thought I’ll go straight to the source. Meet my hairstylist, Master Stylist & Owner Of MC Hair Designs. Maghen does a great job with my hair, I always joke that she gives me Victoria Secret hair.

I asked Maghen exactly what is a DRY SHAMPOO? Maghen explained that a Dry Shampoo’s is designed to help absorb your hair natural oils so that you can extend that style few more days without having to wash it. They also deodorize and help maintain volume in the hair. I then asked Maghen to tell me her Top 5 Dry Shampoo’s, here’s what she shared with me.

1. KEVIN.MURPHY- FRESH.HAIR

Dry cleaning spray-removes odors and excess oils- spray evenly throughout hair holding the spray about 5 inches away from root then brush through.

2. Wella- EIMI- DRY ME

As the bottle states, “Shake me, Spray me, Style me.” This dry shampoo absorbs oils that weigh down your hair- leaves a matte look- spray in and brush

3. Style Edit- Invisible Dry Shampoo

Clear mist VERY lightweight

4. Unwash Dry Cleanser

Rather than using Talc Powder in their spray like most other dry shampoos, Unwash uses Volcanic Ash and has a light fruity scent to it that will not clash with any perfume you are wearing.

5. ALTERNA- Bamboo Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo

This is a Katie Holmes favorite as well as mine! This dry shampoo has a stiffer feel to it for those woman who have a hard time keeping volume in their hair after the first day its blown out. I’m such a scent person I love how the Mango and Coconut smell in my clients hair. If you want to keep the blowout I gave you three days ago this is a go to!

Tips To Keeping Your Blowout Lasting For A Week

Whenever I treat myself to fabulous hair I want it to last as long as possible. Recently I went to see my Master Hairstylist, Meghan Cook owner of MC Hair Designs in Ridgefield because I was being interviewed for a beauty article by Lifestyle Blogger Ilse Mc Donnell of Live Learn Luxe It. With a busy week of work and makeup classes I need my hair to last.

Because I use to travel a lot I’ve learned how to maintain my blowout while on the road. Once you get use to doing this regardless of your hair type you will feel like you got your money worth.

I always get asked about my hair so I’ll share with you the great hair tips that Meghan has given me. It doesn’t matter that I have coarse hair, you will be able to maintain your locks by following these tips, I promise.

I’m a hair flipper but during the week I have to keep my hands out of my hair because the grease/sweat in my hands will give me limp hair.
My hair frizz very quick so Meghan always uses Kevin Murphy Smooth Again in my hair. If it’s a humid week ask your stylist to use a smoothing gel.
If you must go to the gym that week make sure you bring with you a headband/ hair ring to keep the moisture out of your hair.
Before going to bed I put my hair in a ponytail and lightly spray my hair with Oribe Texturizing Spray or L’OREAL Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray.
I use a satin pillowcase to sleep on, I like SLIP to help from getting frizzy hair in the morning.
By day 4 I use Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Shampoo to keep my hair looking and smelling fresh.
By day 5 I still put my hair up in a ponytail but in the morning I use Dry Bar High Tops Self Grip Rollers.

Behind The Scenes At A New York Photo Shoot

The fabulous and gorgeous Founder and Executive Director Zulema Arroyo-Farley of Artz Cure Sarcoma was recently featured in Ocean Drive Puerto Rico magazine. The photo shoot was shot at her beautiful home on the Upper East Side in New York. Zulema is being featured because of her fight with sarcoma and how she work really hard at bringing awareness to sarcoma. Zulema and I met through a mutual friend Lifestyle Blogger Nashelly of Fabulatina. This superwoman Zulema not only is fighting sarcoma she’s also fighting lupus, so that’s how we bonded. I’m always so proud of Zulema, she just never stop, she goes hard everyday. So when she asked me to be a part of her glam team I was definitely honored. Whip Salon Launch Party Was A Glamxurious Evening

I was so excited about today, being completely booked with makeup applications at Whip Salon and having my friend Annya (makeup artist) with me was everything. Can you believe she cut all her beautiful curls?

My first client of the day was Mrs Rosanne, luv her! She came by on Friday to see me to talk about the makeup look she wanted for today. She gave me permission to give her a strong eye with lashes. My kind of lady…here are all of the Jane Iredale products I used on her. The lashes that I selected was from Red Cherry. I like the Cherry brand a lot, their natural lash band is on point. If you put them on correctly you can not see the lash band, doesn’t matter how close someone get to you.

I definitely have to give a shout out to Lancome for providing me with skincare products to use on my clients at Whip salon.

Katie was my third client this morning. She’s a high school student at Ridgefield High, today is there Homecoming so I had a few girls booked with me and I luv it! I like mixing it up because I get to do a variety of makeup looks.

It was pretty cool doing makeup on Andrea being that she’s one of the designers of the salon. Andrea was getting makeup for our launch party tonight along with her business partner Rebecca.

I wanted to give Rebecca a sultry eye with Red Cherry lashes and a sheer lip color. I contoured her just a little not to much. I think she look amazing with this type of look.
