What’s Your Favorite Spring Lip Color

Ooh…I’m liking this Kevyn Aucoin Molten lip color in Rose Gold on me. What I like about Kevyn Aucoin high impact metallic lip gloss is how the product is infused with multi dimensional pearls and illuminated with bold pigments for the glass like shine. The Molten lip gloss is a long wearing lip product that holds the high shine all day. Use the product alone or mix with other lipsticks for a WOW custom look. 💄👄

What lip items are you rockin this spring?

Today’s photo shoot I was booked for was in Edgewater, NJ. Had a nice time working with Amber & Christina. The ladies needed pics for their new business OMNoire a health and wellness company. The ladies definitely captured what they believe in because their energy is very zen like. The real photographer on set was Joshua and wife & assistant Anika.  As soon as I get the pictures I’ll share them with you. Here is a sneak peek of what my day was like.

Sunday Riley: Why Everyone Is So Obsessed With the Skin-Care Brand Right Now

In January beauty writer Deanna from Allure magazine interviewed me about a skincare brand that I’m very obsessed with called Sunday Riley.  Being that I’m a makeup artist that is always on set working with celebrities, at photo shoots, fashion shows, and award shows, I am always looking for the best skincare to give me that flawless complexion. I can honestly say, Sunday Riley has given me just that.

————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Sunday Riley skincare.jpgThe other night, I was out to dinner with a friend. We’ll call her Brittany. While I was busy stealing handfuls of crispy fries off her plate, she waxed poetic about the skin-care brand Sunday Riley. “I love Sunday Riley,” she said. “I’m a sucker for the packaging. It makes it less scary.”

“What do you mean?”

“So retinol is an intimidating ingredient,” explained Brittany, trying to get a fry for herself. Retinol is an intimidating ingredient since, if not used correctly, the vitamin A derivative is as good at making your skin red and raw as it is at boosting collagen. “When I see a clinical retinol tube, I think, Oooh, my face is literally going to flake off. But when you offer it as blue oil and give it a fun name like Luna, I want it.” (I know. Our conversations are riveting.)

She was talking about Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil, a potent treatment that’s a rich, inky blue. (It gets that color from an anti-inflammatory ingredient called blue tansy oil. If you’re curious, we did a little investigating last year.) And Brittany wasn’t kidding: The bottle is as far as you can get from the sometimes fugly, superfunctional packaging of certain skin-care products. The font, minimalist and sophisticated. The name, whimsical. The formula itself, packed with retinol to smooth skin and boost collagen.

Last but not least: the price. It’s as high as you might think. (A one-ounce bottle of Luna Oil retails for $105, which means you’d better not drop any on your bathroom counter or drizzle any on the front of your shirt.) But this doesn’t stop fans from hoarding bottles by the Houston-based brand. “You pay for what you get,” says Brandy, a makeup artist from Ridgefield, Connecticut. In addition to Luna, she owns Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment, Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm, and U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil. If you’re counting, this regimen clocks in at $405 for a total of five full-size products. It’s worth every penny to Brandy. “I used to wear so much foundation because I hated my large pores and dark spots,” she says. “Sunday Riley has given me back my confidence. I don’t know what I would do without it.” Read Full Article Here.

9 best drugstore blushes, according to celebrity makeup artists

aly walansky.jpg

When Beauty, travel & lifestyle writer Aly Walansky asked me about my favorite drugstore makeup brands I was very excited to share with her some of my new favorite brands.  Here is the article for the Today’s Show.

It’s hard to believe, but spring weather really is just around the corner! And nothing complements the season of flowers and sunshine quite like a fresh glow on our cheeks.

To achieve the look, TODAY Style reached out to celebrity makeup artists to find out their personal favorite blushes for spring that are all available at your local drugstore.

These items were hand-picked by our editorial team because we love them – and we hope you do, too. TODAY has affiliate relationships, so we may get a small share of the revenue from your purchases. Items are sold by the retailer, not by TODAY. Full Article Here

Watch Connecticut Makeup Artist & Her Team Work NBA All Star

Today felt like old times when we would all get together to collaborate about the looks for the NBA Fan Patrol Dancers. I really enjoy creating the looks on what the dancers would look like. It’s such a great feeling seeing not just seeing my artistry work on television but to see a vision of everyone always bring a tear to my eyes. I love being a creative director on set I really luv to create. On this day I needed all 8 of us in the glam room. For the music group The Roots we had a lot of people to get hair & makeup ready.

We just finished getting The Roots dancers hair & makeup ready for their performance.

Here is the makeup palette I created for The Roots dancers for their performance. I didn’t get pics for John Legend dancers because at that time I was downstairs with talent. But we kept very similar makeup looks. At the end of the post you can see both videos of all of our hard work that evening.

L’OREAL Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur, ARDELL Demi Wispies Lashes, Absolute New York Strobing & Shading Palette, Primark Master Eye shadow Palette, L’OREAL Paris True Match Super Blendable Powder, L’OREAL Paris Infallible Pro Matte 24HR Foundation, Palladio Blush, Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain, Absolute New York Waterproof Gel Lip Pencil, L’OREAL Paris True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer, Flower Beauty Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette,

Luv Zoey! Shes an awesome dancer, I’m sure you have seen her dancing with some of your favorite artists.

Leah will be my makeup muse this year. Her face is INCREDIBLE See for yourself. I luv the Flower Beauty Shimmer & Strobe Palette I used on her.

Nikki Hall the head NBA Stylist always do a great job with selecting the wardrobe. She’s a beast when it comes to fashion. I luv the clothes she picked out for The Roots dancers. She nailed all the era’s.

Can I just say how bless it is to be working with singer John Legend again. Men grooming is easy but you really have to know what products to use so they don’t look over made up. Definitely want to thank Jidenna & Daveed Diggs who performed with The Roots for being great gentlemen They treat service people excellent!

OK, I needed a minute after grooming John Legend. What a great guy!!!

This is the L’OREAL Paris Colour Riche La Palette Lip Plum I have on

I like using First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy on guys because it’s not so greasy especially when on TV.

Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist Teaches Everything Beauty With Beauty Blueprint

Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis and Kerry Washington at Sundance Film Fest

I get asked daily “How Did You Do It” as far as branding myself in the beauty industry as a Celebrity Makeup Artist without an Agent, Manager, or Publicist. After flirting with the idea of sharing my tips, tricks, and ideas with other makeup artists & hair stylists, I decided “Why not” share my beauty blueprint.

Beauty Blueprint.jpgBeauty Blueprint is a consultation service to provide answers, suggestions, and lessons on anything to do with beauty. My consultation will always take place through Skype or Facetime in the comfort of your own home. I’m excited about it because so many artists & stylists that are living in other states who do not have the budget to travel to meet with me will find this setup convenient. I remember when I started out, I didn’t have a mentor to guide me with the business side. A lot of the business women I looked up to were either in New York, LA, or Europe. I learned a lot of my business acumen through trial and error. I didn’t know what pictures to use in my portfolio, or on my own website. I didn’t know how and what to charge clients, or how to market myself. I wanted to work in the beauty & entertainment industry but had no clue where to begin. 21 years later I am sitting down helping others with their passion of being a successful makeup artists and hair stylists. This is their opportunity to pick my brain to learn what to do, even if they are already working but find themselves in a rut. I don’t just give someone a contact list of names, it’s a business. Clients can book time with me at their own pace, with questions that they have. If they want to just learn what items they need in their kit, how to do invoices, how to market themselves, or product questions, Beauty Blueprint can provide insight. The client is in charge with what they want to learn, no unnecessary curriculum. Each session is customized to fit each client’s needs. Makeup school teach how to do makeup but as a Celebrity Makeup Artist you are learning from someone who is in the business. I teach what a school cannot…experience, clients will learn first hand from a successful makeup artist.

SPRING MAKEUP LOOK WITH ECOTOOLS

My fab girl Ilse McDonnell of Live Learn Luxe It wrote such a glamxurious post today that I have to share with my fab readers…enjoy, because I know I did.

————————————————————————–

Ilse Glow Article

Spring does something to me. It’s like all I want to do is embrace color and bathe in the welcomed sunshine. My husband always jokes that, “little Bub (aka me) doesn’t like the cold,” and laughs at how quickly I bundle up if just the slightest breeze comes my way. So to say I’m happy warmer days are here is an understatement.

That’s why today is a pretty special day. I’ve partnered with EcoTools at Ulta to bring you a fresh-faced, pop-of-color spring makeup look that is sure to kiss my – and your – winter blues buh-bye! The focus is all about creating a dewy, flawless face and embracing color for spring. Click here to read the article in full.

Tips To Keeping Your Blowout Lasting For A Week

  • Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis

Connecticut Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis

Whenever I treat myself to fabulous hair I want it to last as long as possible. Recently I went to see my Master Hairstylist, Meghan Cook owner of MC Hair Designs in Ridgefield because I was being interviewed for a beauty article by Lifestyle Blogger Ilse Mc Donnell of Live Learn Luxe It. With a busy week of work and makeup classes I need my hair to last.

Because I use to travel a lot I’ve learned how to maintain my blowout while on the road. Once you get use to doing this regardless of your hair type you will feel like you got your money worth.

I always get asked about my hair so I’ll share with you the great hair tips that Meghan has given me.  It doesn’t matter that I have coarse hair, you will be able to maintain your locks by following these tips, I promise.

  1. I’m a hair flipper but during the week I have to keep my hands out of my hair because the grease/sweat in my hands will give me limp hair.
  2. My hair frizz very quick so Meghan always uses Kevin Murphy Smooth Again in my hair. If it’s a humid week ask your stylist to use a smoothing gel.
  3. If you must go to the gym that week make sure you bring with you a headband/ hair ring to keep the moisture out of your hair.
  4. Before going to bed I put my hair in a ponytail and lightly spray my hair with Oribe Texturizing Spray or L’OREAL Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray.
  5. I use a satin pillowcase to sleep on, I like SLIP to help from getting frizzy hair in the morning.
  6. By day 4 I use Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair Dry Shampoo to keep my hair looking and smelling fresh.
  7. By day 5 I still put my hair up in a ponytail but in the morning I use Dry Bar High Tops Self Grip Rollers.
  8. I always use Dry Bar Lemon Drop Daily Detangler to brush through my hair so that I don’t come out my curls. It’s also great on
