Faux Lash Tutorial at Essence Music Festival

This morning upon arriving to the Convention Center I was told by one of the producers at the Essence.com stage that a beauty segment was added to my schedule today. While setting up my makeup in the green room, my appointed runner brought up my revised schedule.
I was very thrill about working with Corynne L. Corbett, Essence Magazine Beauty Director. I shared with her last night at Essence Magazine VIP Lounge that I wanted to do something with her soon. Well, she put me to the test and added a fun lash totorial. Read about it here

Sundance Film Fest 2010…Week 1

I was blessed to be selected to represent L’OREAL PARIS at Sundance Film Festival 2010 in Park City, Utah in the Entertainment Weekly Lounge presented by L’OREAL PARIS. I have been a L’OREAL PRO MAKEUP ARTIST for 6 years now and I can proudly say I enjoy working with L’OREAL PARIS makeup. My many makeup kit has about 95% L’OREAL PARIS in it. One of my favorite brand inside the L’OREAL PARIS family is the HIP line that will all soon be the Professional Studio Secerts.
So many highlights working with so many celebs all day everyday. But my favorite moment
was doing makeup on one of L’OREAL spokes models in that was actress Kerry Washington (in the green shirt below). Kerry was such a sweetheart and was very easy to work on. She is such a pretty girl in I wanted to keep her makeup light, and fresh so I selected a taupe eyeshadow from the HIP duo eyeshadow in #208 Sassy. I lined her eyes with the HIP cream eyeliner in black. I selected from the True Match line for her foundation (C7 classic tan) and blush (C 5-6 Rosy Outlook). On her lips, I first wanted to protect it from the cold Utah weather so I applied the Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Sugar. I kept her lip color soft with HIP Professional Secrets Shine Studio Lipcolor in Euphoric.

I have combined some fun pictures of the first week at Sundance Film Festival 2010. I had a blast as you will really see in week 2 with my roommates who I shared a great condo with; Makeup Artist Tiffany Hall-Scarmana, Hairstylist Vanessa Vargas and assistant tour manager Michael Charapata who was their to run the L’OREAL studio tent.

First Night Out; Sundance 2010

Our first night out in Park City Utah, for Sundance Film Festival 2010 the girls (Makeup Artist Tiffany & Hairstylist Vanessa) and I wanted to have a nice dinner before our big day at The Entertainment Weekly lounge presented by L’OREAL PARIS. So after walking up in down Main Street to find the perfect place the girls and I decided on Jean Louis Restaurant on Main Street. Before walking in a group was walking out in they all shared that we order the Lobster Mac & Cheese. We were greeted by a very nice frenchmen at the front door who was very friendly. He escorted us to a very nice table on the side were we could get comfortable. The ambiance was very sexy, red lights and very European.

We order the Sundance Martini to get in the Sundance Film Festival mood. We did order the Lobrster Mac & Cheese and it was amazing. The lobster were very large pieces not that small or grinded pieces that a lot of restaurant usually give. The cheese was plentiful that I was really full from that one dish.

Later into the dinner the Frenchmen we met earlier came over to introduce himself and it was the owner & chef Jean Louis Montecot’s. He asked the waiter to bring us a very nice dessert and that to was amazing…

How Celebrity Makeup Artist Enjoyed Spending Mother’s Day

What a great getaway this was for us all. Everyone always ask how do a Celebrity Makeup Artist spend her down time. I was able to spend my MOTHER’S DAY weekend with my family and with Miss Sassy and her mom, who is my extended family. Sassy is not just my BFF she’s like a little sister. She’s such a great friend and we just laugh at each other crazy antics and blonde moments. Her mom is just as amazing. I find myself calling her mom often she’s a great woman and she love her daughter so much. So, whenever we do family things both families always include the next. As I shared with you early this week we had an amazing time so as promised I am sharing my Mother’s Day weekend with you at my summer home.

Radio Personality Downtown Lesli Brown 102.9 fm


Downtown Lesli Brown from 102.9FM had her launch party on Saturday night for her magazine call “DA COST”. When she told me in February 08′ that she wanted to start her magazine she was surprise that I didn’t knock her down. I embraced her love & passion and said just tell me what you need me to do.




As many know my friendship with Lesli and her family especially with one her older sister’s…Natalie Martin. Her two request were for me to do her makeup for the launch party. Her next request is for me to do writing and submit pictures. I can and will do that as well. So when she called me two weeks later with the date, I locked in my books and told her I will be there. Once I lock a date in my book I will show up doesn’t matter where I am, in state or out of state.

Because I closed the studio and because I was going to attend her party I asked Lesli to come to my home that evening so I can get ready and not arrive to late. If I was to go to her house I wouldn’t make it in time.
Lesli is so easy to do she has great skin and amazing features that it feels like painting a perfect canvas. She has great skin like Shontel Sheri (Miss Sassy) that she can wear any makeup look I put on her. Normally, Lesli is all over the place. She has lots of energy and this evening she was quiet. I knew she was nervous she didn’t want anything to eat or drink. Her phone was blowing up like crazy with questions from the venue, people asking to get on the guest list and all the other calls you get when throwing a party.



Shontel and I arrived to the event a little after 11pm. We had a great time and Lesli really went all out. She had the red carpet upon arriving, a photographer to take pictures at the door, outside 2 large TV’s playing music videos, her front door girls were very pleasant and professional. When I arrived Lesli made sure our drinks were taking care of. Almost 90% of the people came in white as the host requested.




Shontell (Miss Sassy) met some of hernew fans that evening. Her boss was also at the party so that was funny she ran into him earlier I believe at the Hornets game with her BF.





Miss Ashley Jinky from Old School 106.7 was also there she has been popping up everywhere lately. But it’s always good to see her. She is such a sweet girl.

I am so proud of Lesli…I wish her much success.

L’ Oreal Cosmetics 2008 Product Launch

You know I told you I had the honor to be invited to the L’Oreal 2008 Product Launch Training. Out of 250 makeup artists/stylists only 30 was ask to attend. I had to go out to Hartford, CT which was fine with me because I live to travel. I was so excited about going to the L’ Oreal storefront which was amazing. They had special edition items there that you will not see in other stores. The store is very contemporary very me bright and bold with tons of beauty items everywhere.



They had lined up speakers (Dominque Dawles) to come out to talk with us as well as had a celebrity makeup artist to do 2 looks. The makeup artist was Julia who works often with Anne Hathaway from”The Devil Wears Prada”, Lindsey Lohan, and Madonna.


I was able to room with my girl Debra from Houston…one of the girls who came down to help me out with All-Star weekend last month. Lisa from Dallas was invited out and I was so happy to see her and Elaine.

We received products and a very nice silver pendant necklace that said “EMBRACE LIFE”.



The only challenge for me was the flying because of the delays so I got in late late late.

GLAM Life of a Makeup Artist

Trying to be world wide…my black ass came down with a bad cold. But I had a great time doing it. The Planet Beach team and the owner Steve they party hard…like rock stars. The group that I was with The Marketing/Creative Director and PR made me feel like a part of the staff. But did I say they party. Cozumel was beautiful the water aqua blue and white sand how could I say no to this gig. Now you know I should have known better but I didn’t put any sun block on so I am feelin it. Face and arms burned I’m really colored now…

I am adding pics so you all can see how FAB I look. But working next to those tiny girls I need to only eat sunflower seeds the rest of the month. All we did was eat and drink and it now shows. But everybody else thought I was cute…the staff on the ship named me HOLLYWOOD. Overall, the trip was BAD ASS luv being treated well and I was able to produce so good work.

As soon as I got off the ship I had to route to Florida to work an assignment. So no time to rest living the life of a makeup artist in demand.
