Times Picayune Photo Shoot

Yesterday photo shoot with Times-Picayune (www.timespicayune.com)went well. Stephanie interviewed me last week about holiday makeup this year and what will be my favorite makeup item to use. For the holidays is when I really attend a lot of events and private parties and my favorite thing is to play up my eyes and just do a light nude or pink lip. L’Oreal came out with 5 new HIP metallic eye shadows that are amazing. Lots of pigments, and when I saw the new colors earlier this year I just knew which one was going to be the most popular one for the holidays especially for NEW YEAR’S. So I talked about the HIP duo eyeshadow in platinum and also the HIP cream eyeliner in black. Can’t forget about my shu uemura eyelashes. So Susan L. (who I adore and respect) is the beauty/fashion editor for Times Picayune called me and asked if I could do a shoot using the items that I spoke about.

So yesterday we got together to put together a very quick shoot since the pictures were needed for Friday. Joseph the photographer did an amazing job capturing the look that I needed. He really focused on the face and baby girl did her part by giving me not a lot of attitude but just enough face. I love working with her. Baby Girl helped me out for the Austin Scarlett fashion show at the W. Hotel and then she was the model for the New Orleans magazine photo shoot as well. We get along very well and she is such a sweet girl that we have so much fun working together. She reminds me of Shontell, very sweet, very loyal, very easy to work with and can just give you face. Gotta add my girl Ayaka Lynn to the list of models that I find are amazing girls but she left me and went back to Japan. We talked about me starting back up my agency for models and makeup artists/hair stylists in 09′. If I could get some time at night to start organizing it then don’t be surprise when Top Ladies resurface.

Anyway here are a few of the pics and more is to come but I can’t post all of them. Be on the look out in Times-Picayune WISH insert. The fashion magazine that comes out in certain areas of the city.

My Indian Bride Loved Her Makeup

This is why I do what I do. Receiving letters/emails and gifts from clients thanking me for what was once a hobby and now a love makes me happy. My bride Domini R. from Saturday just sent me this and I wanted to share it with you all. This one will go in my book that I am working on.

Brandy,
I just wanted to thank you for your amazing services this past weekend.
You are truly talented and know exactly how to make a woman look her
absolute best. Each person in my bridal party had different skin tones
and racial backgrounds, and yet each girl looked impeccable. Everyone
raved about your skills and they loved how beautiful they looked. Our
photographs came out STUNNING! I still can’t get over how beautiful we
all looked!! You perfectly captured the look I had in mind for the
girls. My mother is usually such a critic when she gets her makeup
done, and even she was so thrilled with how she looked.
You were an absolute joy to work with…so friendly and personable, and
of course, a true professional. I wish you all the best, and I know
your gift will take your career to amazing new heights.

Thank you so much for everything.

Warm regards,
Domini

British Magazine photo shoot

This morning call time was not to bad. I had to be up for 5am for a 6:00am call time. I decided last night that I was not getting all fancy and doing hair and makeup. I got my clothes together early so I didn't need to stress over what I was wearing.

The shoot was not a celebrity or anything. It was better…4 amazing 11 month old baby girls. The dad is a chef at the Ritz Carlton and Alicia works at The Country Club.

I had a great time the girls all had personalities. I loved it!

Bridal Meeting

Domini Ramasamy my Indian bride came by today with her brother to go over the wedding on Saturday. After Roma Jolly wedding the bride that is related to our Governor Jindal I have been getting so many calls from brides from India. I am getting tons of Hindu weddings in 2009.

The meeting went well and she was such a delight. She wanted the Kim Kardashian makeup look so that was easy for me to do. She was so cute she said since I did Kim’s makeup then she knew I would be able to give her a dramatic eye. Kim makeup is always on point. She is still the best looking celeb client I have had that looks great without makeup. We also went over the girls look and we decided on a silver/gray smokey look.

Can’t wait for Saturday cuz I love doing makeup on women from India. They love makeup and they can wear eye colors very well. Plus, with Hindu weddings they have bling bling everywhere…my favorite

Gambit Weekly Photo Shoot

Today I had the Gambit Weekly photo shoot for their fashion spread called CUE. I have worked with Gambit so many times on so many assignments. So they are like family to me. We shot at a home in Lakeview and this is a home that we have used often and other magazines in papers has spotlighted this home. The house is very eclectic…remember the pic where the young lady is in the refrigerator and its stuff with tons of shoes. That house.

Theresa was the photographer…another regular to the team and the model was Rocio who I just worked with for the Austin Scarlett show. Kara loved her look and asked if she could use her for the shoot. So today was a fun day for me plus I am still hungover from last night. Hungover with emotions and happiness about our new elect President.

Even after the scare with Roico almost passing out on set we were able to get some amazing frames. The CUE issue should be out Nov 17th so look out for it.

Weddings

Today is a busy day for me. I had two weddings with the first group having 7 girls coming over to the studio. My kind of girls they brought a cooler with lots of champagne. The girls all went to Tulane University and no longer live here in New Orleans.

My second wedding is on location so I had to hurry in get out of the studio but I didn’t have to go far since she was on Prytania. I will just come back later to clean up.

Meeting at the W Hotel for the Bridal Shows

The meeting at The W. Hotel went well today. We met at Bacco Resturant in the French Quarter. The meeting was so we could do a walk through for both shows. We also talked about makeup and hair, press, music for the show, sponsors, and the photo shoot that will take place on Halloween for the national bridal magazine.

Because I am the Creative Director for the event I have more responsibility then just doing makeup. On Tuesday of next week I will go over to The W. Hotel to help with selecting the gowns that Austin Scarlett…yeah from Bravo’s Project Runway will be sending for the show. I had to select all of the models for the show as well as making sure they are placed in the correct bridal gowns. I am so excited about the makeup looks that I came up with and I like the avant garde hair styles that the models will get. I just need to finish my face charts tonight.

David Klasfeld owner of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics will be sponsoring the event for me. Because I will have many faces I thought it would be easier to airbrush plus the look that I want to do will be best done airbrush. David has amazing product so I am glad he decided to be a part. David is really good to me…and he is an AMAZING MAKEUP ARTIST. Check out his work to see for yourself at: http://www.occmakeup.com

I hope Debra will be able to come down to help out plus she always help David with events so maybe she will come in town. Because I am flying out on Friday for the Oprah magazine event I don’t have a lot of time. I still have not unpack so I can repack. I have so much to do and still have another shoot to put together for the Caribbean magazine that I write for. The article is about Valentine makeup so I need to get Shontell dates to see what day she can come by to get her makeup done. I also have to call Jerome to see his schedule.

Ok, I gotta go cuz I have so much more work to do and it’s going on 1am.

No New Kids On The Block at GHOST BAR

Ok, bye the time we finished saying goodbye and head back to the hotel it is now around 11ish so I know I was not going to make the New Kids On The Block concert. The show started at 8pm so that was a no-brainer. Debra and I were exhausted and Debra still was not feeling well but we both still wanted to go out. We had talked earlier that day about a few of us going to The W. Hotel/GHOST BAR. Since the NKOTB concert was at the American Airlines which is directly across the street from The GHOST BAR we decided that we would go in get drinks and hope to see the guys. We didn’t make it out of the hotel until 12:35am. The GHOST BAR is bad ass, I LOVED the decor and they are doing more work to it. Because it got a little cool we didn’t sit outside but the view inside was so much better. Plus, I enjoy people watching. When we arrived it was packed with NKOTB fans everywhere. Some wore their old shirts, some wore new shirts and some looked liked sluts and a few were dress glam/stylish. We hit the bar and order mojito’s all night. They were excellent made cuz by the second one we were feelin good. We had a great time and just laughed and talked about everything. We didn’t see the guys but by that time it was cool.It was just good to be out and be dressed lookin like myself. We definitely had lots of drinks I just remember laughing all night at everything. We left the ghost bar at 2am cuz we were hunger and getting this buzz that we knew we needed to start heading back. Debra wanted JACK IN THE BOX so that’s where we stop to eat. We make it back to the hotel by 2:30am and we stayed up to watch SEX IN THE CITY. I don’t remember when we dosed off but at some point we did. GLAM LIFE OF A MAKEUP ARTIST
