facetune_13-10-2019-20-19-11

So Queen B day and month has come to an end. Next year I will be celebrating the BIG 50 in October. My first birthday and Hawaii was everything I thought it would be. I don’t know how I will top it next year but I’m sure it will be filled with many fabulous treats as usual. I never thought that being 49 would be a sexy time in my life. Let me tell you, I have so much more confident and spirit. I do what I want, I live how I like and I don’t look for approval from anyone. I do live my best life EVERYDAY and moving to Hawaii was the start of doing ME!

Living In Hawaii With An Auto Immune Disease

img_1290I’m so lucky to have a beach day everyday, that’s the plus to living in Hawaii. If you have never visited Hawaii, know that  Hawaiian beaches are absolutely breathtaking. You can just stare out at the ocean for hours in just enjoy the wonderful breeze.

I always find that when I’m feeling low like a flare up is coming on and my body /joints are hurting due to my Lupus I walk down to the beach. I’m so lucky that the beach is just a 3-4 minute walk for me. If  I’m having really low energy then I drive to the beach.

Since living here in Hawaii, I haven’t been having many flare up days. My body has really embraced this move. I wish all my Lupus Warriors and Auto Immune Warriors could make a move like I did to live better and be healthier. No more suffering like I did when living on the mainland, it’s really about finding the right environment. I’m not sure about you but before being diagnosed with Lupus, I didn’t know much about the environment and environmental issues and how the body reacts.

All of this Aloha Spirit has allowed me to live life again. I even cut back on some of the meds I was taken on the mainland. My body has not reacted negatively since living here in Hawaii. It’s only been 4 months but I can definitely see an improvement. I’ve learned what my triggers are so I’m aware of what will cause a flare up and I do my best to keep it from happening. With stress being one of the things that cause my flare ups that includes negative and stressful people I now keep them away.

With Hawaii being a summer state all year round and because I am photosensitive I make sure I cover up as much as possible. I do find that I get drained if I’m out in the sun. So, I make sure I go out later in the day when the sun has gone down on beach days. Because of the sun, I’m still tired and I have joint pains everywhere. I do take CBD Hemp Oil to help with my joint pains. And sunscreen is major, I don’t leave the house without using it on my body. I also make sure that my foundation have SPF cuz everything helps.

Overall, this move has been one of the best things I could have done to help my body. I’m never leaving Hawaii, I have got my life back and life is good.

Today I’m Getting These Fibroids And Polyp Tumors Removed

img_1030The Big Day is FINALLY here! If you’re a woman who have experience women health issues I’m sure you understand my excitement. If you have a love one that is going through it with health issues then I know you understand.

I arrived at The Queen’s Medical Center at 7:30am to check in for surgery. I was brought up to the 2nd floor and they got me all prepped. All of my nurses were excellent with taking care of me and keeping me calm and relaxed.

At 9:30am I was rolled in the operating room, that’s when it got real when they had me say bye to my husband and son. The room was bright and so damn cold that they had to get me 2 more warm blankets. All I remember is moving from the stretcher to the table, the doctor placing the oxygen mask  over my face and feeling the cold anesthesia medication going through the intravenous line in my arm. I didn’t like how it felt, my body started shaking and I was out. The next thing I know is they were waking me up and I was crying because I was in so much pain and I could feel the water/saline/blood discharging.  They could not give me any pain medicine until I came all the way out of sedation. I kind of remember my husband feeding me a dry ass sandwich and helping me with drinking water.

Everything went well, of course… I’m on day 3 of recovering and I’m still in pain and heavy bleeding when I bend down or walk up in down stairs. I just need to get through this this week and I can’t wait to get back to my regular routine.

If you know any woman that is going through women issues like fibroids and polyps, please encourage them to go visit a doctor so they do not suffer with heavy periods, continuous bleeding after their periods, bloating and pain. It may not sound like it’s something serious but it is.

Women we have to start taking care of each other and stop acting like another woman challenge is her complaining.

Relaxing At Home After Going Through Pre-Op To Remove Fibroids And Polyp Tumors

img_0090I’ve been through my pre-op, now I’m home just sitting here patiently waiting for the big day. I have only been coming outside after 6pm when the sun goes down. The doctors told me to stay out of the sun and because of my Lupus I have to not get a lot of sun on my body without being covered.

I never had surgery so I didn’t know what to expect at the pre-op. For me it was broken up in 2 days. The first day was blood work and urine testing.

The second day was my pre-op clearance with anesthesiologist. About 2 hours of questions asking me about my health history then they did an EKG and another urine test. My doctor went over my lab work from yesterday blood work. It’s very detailed. Because I’m anemic my blood was a little low, it was a 10.2 and she need me to get it to 11.2 before surgery. So that meant eating a lot of protein to get my iron up. So that meant no processed food which is hard for me

Then I was sent home with special instructions such as;

Do not eat or drink anything (even water or chewing gum) after midnight.

Do not take aspirin or aspirin for at least 1 week before surgery. (say what, nah)

Avoid soda and alcohol (oh lord, this is all I drink)

Avoid sun

Bathe with the special Hibiclens wash they send you home with the night before and the morning of. Use clean soft towels, do not scrub just softly wipe and pat dry.

No makeup, no nail polish just on 1 finger (this was the hard part)

Eat healthy food drink 8 glasses of water a day (this was hard cuz I don’t drink water daily)

Brush your teeth four times a day and before bed

No smoking no street drugs no vitamins and herbal supplements (didn’t pertain to me)

Try to not get a cold/flu, fever, sore throat or cough. (this is why I had to stay away from people cuz of my Lupus I pick up germs instantly)

The best part about this down time is I’m able to focus of my future. I have been working a lot on my book because this entire experience has given me a lot to write about.

I also finished working on my blog and managed to get a nice nap with all this wonderful breezy coming through. The next time you will hear from is after the big day.

Apple News Picked Up My Beauty Article On How Beauty Is Enhanced By Plant Based Food

img_9331Earlier this summer I written a beauty article about food for a new online magazine called SPIRALIZED.

I worked with the Editor In Chief, Gina Keatley numerous times doing hair and makeup for her videos and photoshoots. So when she asked me if I would be interested in writing about the topic of food, makeup and clothing I thought it would make for fun content.

Little did I know that later this summer the article would get picked up by Apple News. I’m not a journalist I’m just a woman who love to write on her blog about beauty, skincare, hair, and my crazy life. So when Gina reached out to me that my article was picked up by Apple News, you can only imagine how taken away I was about this great news.

I’m going to continue to bring you all quality and fun content on my blog as well as a contributor. Below you will find the original article on SPIRALIZED page 11-13. I hope you enjoy it!

New Orleans Peeps Enjoying Surf Day In Oahu Hawaii

img_8172Yeah buddy, the day has finally come, where the Gomez-Duplessis guys are getting surf lessons in Hawaii. We decided to go to our favorite area, Haleiwa on The Northshore.

Haleiwa is about a 45 min ride, the same amount of time to get to Honolulu from the house but the view to Haleiwa is so much better. Plus, I like the energy better in Haleiwa then in Waikiki. I call Haleiwa more bohemian, chill and laid back. Being in Waikiki is like going to Rodeo Drive flirting with 5th Ave and Times Square.

Honolulu is basically  like going downtown in your town where all the tourists have overcrowded. When we visited The Northshore last month we noticed they offered surf lessons on the beach. No appointment is needed you just show up and wait until one of the instructors is available. The crowds are also substantially lighter and friendlier than in Waikiki. The North Shore is the SURFING CAPITOL of the WORLD, learning to surf out here is about as authentic as it gets.

So today we selected to do surf lessons on Chun’s Reef Beaches with North Shore Surf Girls. The instructor offers 2 lessons, one on the beach and the other in the water. The total lesson is 2 hours and the instructors were very knowledgeable and gave really good tips and advice when your out there in the water.

They will provide surf jerseys, rashguards and surfboard.  Please make sure you bring cash, enough to pay for your services, to tip your instructor and additional cash if you decide that you want to purchase professional pictures of yourself when you’re out on the water.

So while the guys were doing their thing out in the water, I was having my photo shoot by myself.

A freelance photographer is out there, capture great pics of you and when you’re done with your lessons you can review the pics and then purchase the link with pics of yourself. His hustle is like theme parks, not mad at it, I like a good hustle.
