YMCA “Break Out The Bubble” Ribbon Cutting In Danbury Connecticut

img_1696I always enjoy attending social events, this time I didn’t have to go far. As they say, it was right in my own back yard…3 mins away. I was invited by Randy to attend “Break Out The Bubble” Ribbon Cutting & VIP Reception for the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut. 

The Regional YMCA were celebrating the opening of the 15,500 sq ft bubble enclosure making the outdoor pool available year-round. The new Youth Development & Aquatics Center building will now consists of new showers, bathrooms, and a lobby.  This is perfect for when kids are off during the holidays and parents we want our kids to have activities they could do while home. The aquatics center is something I’m elated about because of my chronic illness this will be a great way to stay healthy.

As you know I never stop working and while at the VIP Reception I had a fun time with JoAnn Cueva the Danbury Chamber Of Commerce Director. So much fun playing with makeup and giving her a personal makeup lesson and What’s In Your Bag service.

List Of Things You Will Need To Rebuild After Hurricane Harvey

Residents wait on a roof top to be rescued from the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans ..Today is the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, a day that has changed my life. I feel like a PRO with surviving hurricanes unfortunately. As I’m glued to my television watching CNN and talking to family & friends in Texas I’m hearing they are now doing MANDATORY EVACUATION in certain areas of Houston. Because I have lived through it and have managed to rebuild with some challenges I can share what you will need to move forward. So, if you still have time to gather a few things please be sure to grab the following items to help you with rebuilding.

  • Insurance Papers-Home & Business
  • Birth Certificates & Passports
  • Drivers License
  • Marriage License
  • Social Security Card
  • Taxes
  • Property Records-Home, Cars, Boats
  • Legal Records
  • Medical Papers
  • Shot Records For Kids
  • Kids Report Cards
  • Bills with your mailing address on it
  • Last two month bills -You will need because monthly service companies will lose all of your payment information so they will recharge you for service that you already paid.
  • Business Owners-Contracts for anything you lease/rent
  • Computer & Charger

It will just make your life easier if you have these items. Get ready to fight, get ready to be on the phone for days trying to get through to who ever you need to speak with, be ready to stand in lines, be ready to research for yourself, read those last pages of your contracts so you will be ready for companies that will want to fine you / sue you later. Don’t expect that you will be good because you have insurance, know the difference between flood, water, and wind damages, educate yourself. Redcross & FEMA can only provide you a temp fix for a few days-weeks only. Hopefully you took clear pictures of properties in your home because you will need a lot of proof.

Good Luck with everything, stick together, spouses please be patience with each other. Everyone handle stress differently. This is the time that you will need to lean on each other. Men, it’s ok to cry, let it out, don’t be ashamed. Because you all are dealing with emotions that you have never experience. It’s so heartbroken to see others drowning right before your eyes will be something you will never forget. I made that mistake trying to stay strong trying to deal with all the bullshit that I didn’t have time to cry in process what the hell had just happened. Again stick together and talk to your kids because their little minds are in shock especially if they witness bodies. I’m still in shock from seeing dead bodies upon returning home.

What Did You Do For Your Favorite Guy On Father’s Day

Yesterday was perfect, I could not have asked for a better Father’s Day for my husband. Everything the kids and I planned went accordingly even the weather was perfect. My husband Michael is a very simple guy he doesn’t like a big production like myself. He prefer things simple but of great quality. So we managed to provide him with everything he enjoy including us on yesterday. His day of goodies were sports apparel, wine & spirits, cigars, and world class chuck steaks while sitting on the deck listening to his eclectic playlist of music.

While in the city all week working on Friday I picked up at Ceriello Fine Foods some chuck steaks. They have the best butcher to me for Prime Aged Beef. Whenever I know we are going to go out on the deck and grill one of Michael fav is chuck steaks. In between you and I, I think he used some of that Trader Vics as a glaze. #justsayin 

Michael ended the evening finishing off both bottle of The Macallan & The Original Trader Vics Macadamia Nuts Liqueur. Well, we helped him with that Trader Vics. Ladies, it’s is an exquisite flavor of Hawaiian macadamia nuts with a roasty touch of vanilla that I found to be perfect alone and with ice cream and probably coffee. So you may want to pick up a bottle for yourself, I know I’m going to.

For Jordan’s Birthday We Ate Fancy Milkshakes

​​Today is my son Jordan 20th Birthday and like any mother he’s still my baby. Jordan is not big on making a big fuss so I knew he would not want a cake so I had to think of something that was simple yet FABULOUS.  One of Jordan favorite place to go to is Black Tap Craft in New York because he luv their burgers and crazy milkshakes but because we were on limited time I needed something just as fab in Connecticut. After doing my research I found Cream & Sugar Cafe in Bethel, CT just 19 mins from the house. After his sister and I picked him up from work we headed over to Cream & Sugar Cafe. Once he walked in he smiled like a little kid. Jordan has a sweet tooth like his mama and he luvs ice-cream so I knew he would enjoy being here. While eating he opened his gifts with the family.

Cream & Sugar Cafe was exactly what I thought it would be. Cute location, family oriented with a young friendly staff. After looking at the pictures on the wall and reviewing the menu we all knew exactly what milkshakes we wanted. I wish I was prepared to eat but now we know that we must not come on an empty stomach because after a few bites we were so full. I’m so excited that we found a fun spot for the summer.

I Luv The Christmas Window Displays In New York

I’m such a kid at heart, I live for this day. Being in New York City with the family, drinking hot chocolate & viewing the window displays on 5TH Ave. I have to be very careful so I make sure to layer my clothes so that I don’t have a flare up. I hate having this much clothing on but I do what I have to do to stay healthy.

Here are some of my favorite windows. I wish I could have taken more but my hands were freezing.

How Was Your Thanksgiving?

I don’t know about you but this year I wasn’t ready for Thanksgiving. With so much going on plus being busy at work I really could have slept through this holiday. Wednesday night I manage to get up to start playing around with my table. Every holiday I look forward to dressing my table with a different theme. The kids luv that I do this now that the kids are older they help with ideas. I’ve never decorated with a traditional Thanksgiving theme my creative mind just luv having fun with it.

Two things that I didn’t get to do yesterday was stop by Leslie Glover Toran home & turn on the fireplace. After all that cooking I chilled with the family.  Like everyone else we were all to full to do anything else. I managed to get another breathing treatment in while we watched a movie. Working those 13 days straight I didn’t have time to do them so I was definitely overdue. My body started flaring on Monday after I got off.

Just like my table I don’t usually cook traditional Thanksgiving dishes. I take my time with my menu to make sure I give each family member a dish that they crave and/or luv.

 

 

 

 


My plate for the evening, the only thing missing is the sauteed crabs. I ate that after my treatments.

Happy Mother’s Day To All The Amazing Mother’s

I started my morning very early had to be up for 6am to get ready to go to Sephora to coach a Beauty Class. After the class I only accepted 1 appointment because it was a very sweet client who trust me to do her daughter makeup for all her special events. Angie shared with me that she has never gotten her makeup done before. So I had to treat her on Mother’s Day.

By 1pm I was home celebrating with my family doing everything that I enjoy doing daily especially when I’m feeling well.  My son told me everyday is Mother’s Day because we all spoil each other. That is so true, I try to raise the kids to be good everyday to one another not just on holidays. I love been home for holidays entertaining with the family. I hate going out to eat or celebrating with a lot of people. We all like the intimacy of being home celebrating (eating & drinking) together. The weather started out very nasty with a rain storm, by 2pm I was outside enjoying the lake in eating crawfish outside while sippin on prosecco. We had a fantastic dinner then movie time. I only made to 1.5 movies, crashing before 10pm. I was so grateful for my day that I used up all of my energy.

Thanks Family for a nice day! I hope everyone spoiled their mom’s yesterday.

Easter Was Definitely All About Family

 Happy Easter! 

This Easter I kept it very simple. Having older kids, 23 &19 year olds it’s not the same. So I decided to get them lots of snacks, since we all have sweet-tooth in the house. With the extra bags of Zapps chips  I thought it would be cute to use as my table setting. Every holiday I come up with a different and creative table setting. The rest of the day was spent eating, resting and watching movies.
