Destination Wedding In New Orleans with my Favorite New Jersey Couple

5am at the airport, ready to go to sleep
This wedding was a little different because it was more of a Wedding Anniversary Celebration of 10 years for Susan & Stan. I was booked for the wedding but have been working with Susan and her girlfriends a lot both here in New York & New Orleans. So once Susan shared me with me the date I locked it in my books because I couldn’t miss it this time around. http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js_uacct = “UA-3446372-1”; urchinTracker();

I arrived in New Orleans on Friday morning met up with Susan to go over the details. So on Friday I enjoyed my time in New Orleans before turning in early. Saturday was definitely a magical day, I turned my room at the W Hotel French Quarter into my mini makeup room. Susan, Kecia and Miss Baley came up to get ready then took the shuttle bus over to Cafe Amelie. This beautiful in lush courtyard was a perfect place for this wonderful ceremony. After the celebration we went over to Kingfish for the after party for more drinks and celebrating.

Labor Day Weekend:FRIDAY

Kicked off the day with the girls by going on our date with MR. VALENTINO to see the movie…the last emperor. We were the first to arrive…actually (BEN) was. We caught up with everything and we laughed and laughed cuz that’s what we do when we are together.

After the movie, which was just amazing and I could have watched it 2 more times…but I will be buying the DVD when the movie comes out. Because we were a little hungry we decided to go eat at Superior Grill on St. Charles Ave in get of course…rita’s.

My first day home I left my charger for my Iphone on set so we stopped at the AT&T store after so I could buy another charger and decided to buy a car charger as well.

Then we pass by the W. Hotel to see all of my buddies. I figured it was a Friday night so everybody should be there. I texted that I was on my way. First stop was the Whiskey Bar. When we arrived it was packed full of men. I completely forgot that it was the Kick Off of Southern Decadence at the W. Hotel. The girls and I enjoyed ourselves Lane gave me a bottle of FIJI water and made me a drink. Not really sure what but it was really good. We went upstairs and in their Great Room was http://www.passportmagazine.com”>Passport Magazine with Fashion Designer http://www.andrewchristian.com”>Andrew Christian fresh off his stint with Bravo’s competition “The Fashion Show”. They were doing the Belvedere’s Maceration Stations from 6-9pm so more drinks were flowin. Caught up with my girls BethAnn and Terri. Was also able to see my buddy Nicole Robinson…luv her!

After the fashion show we left, MISS SASSY headed home and I met up with hubby and my son and we went out to ELMWOOD. Grab some snacks in then headed home.

Wedding Makeup Article

I got a call this morning at 7:52 am, and I jumped up thinking my bride was calling me because I wasn’t at the hotel. You know that maybe I over slept or something. But it was a new bride calling to book me after seeing an article on me in this month Gambit Weekly L’Image Wedding Insert. I was so exhausted that all I can hear was an exciting young girl on the other end who was just going on and on. I was just relived that it wasn’t my bride calling me saying I was a no show. That is something that scare me all the time that one day I am going to be so tired that I will over sleep and not show up to one of my brides wedding.

So of course, I roll over and pull up the Gambit page (laptop next to my side of the bed)and sure enough there’s a picture of me and an interview I did with them some time ago on page 22 and 23. Because, it’s been a minute I completely forgot all about it and my publicist has not called me to tell me anything. I guess she was not informed either.

What a great way to start my SATURDAY…Thanks Gambit for featuring me in L’Image…I love you guys. Off to my bride Scarlet Pollard at the Lowes Hotel.

Checkin In

I checked into the W hotel at 8:01 pm. I am not really tired but just feeling blah. At the airport I purchased $46.81 worth of magazines to read on the plane and finishing reading the rest tonight.

I feel mentally drain I have so much to do back home that I don’t feel creative. I was hoping to have packed up the studio before leaving so I could have closed that chapter but didn’t happen. Celebrity hair stylist Ted Gibson reached out to me so I need to email him tonight. I have to relax and surround myself around things I love so I can get my creative juice flowin. I need to write at least two articles tonight for fashion indie so I can have a head start.

This week is Shontell BDay so I know I will be flying home to celebrate with baby girl.

Ok, let me go getting late and I need to unpack, order food, take a shower in snuggle in this big bed. I brought some candles with me, I do that a lot when I travel I like bringing candles and air freshners. The W hotel is nice so I never have to worry about it smelling.

Night…

Body Sushi…Party All The Time

This was one of those really rushed crazy days. I had so many parties to attend plus work all day and still do a photo shoot this evening in Metairie by Jerome and Yolanda studio. The young lady we were shooting tonight is an up-n-coming R&B Singer. Brittany and I actually made it out there before everybody. I love that Brittany was trying to keep me on schedule as much as she possible could so we can make all of the other things that we needed to do that evening.

Of course, I could not make it to every party that evening so I was kinda of upset. If any of the holiday parties I really wanted to attend the party of the guys I lease from. I love them so much they are so awesome. I still needed to go back to the studio and take a shower and try to do something with my hair and makeup. Mind you it’s after midnight. By the time we start the night we are looking at 12:45 am. Brittany and I head to the W. hotel to meet my hubby. The W. Hotel was having body sushi tonight but because we were so late all of the good sushi was gone so we decided to leave and as soon as we did we walked right into Laine who was coming in to check up. But I was not in the mood to stay cuz the crowd was so young.

We walk down to LOA , a Sean Cummings spot. He also has the LOFT 523 …wait it’s called something else now…I think it’s now Le Phare. So we hang out, nice and relaxing and just catch up with whats going on with my schedule and all the assignments I have coming up in in Jan 09. Carlyn shows up really late and was she out of it…but she looked good and that’s all that matter. We order a few more drinks and got Carlyn a key lime pie martini. She never had one from this spot. My favorite place …and did she love it!!!

We stayed about another hour and headed home afterward cuz I did have an early morning.

W. Hotel Wedding Event

The day finally arrived , the 2 day bridal event at The W. Hotel. Being the Creative Director I had a few more duties than normal just doing the makeup. A lot of the planning and organizing on my part was done while I was on the L’Oreal tour. I am really excited and glad to have had the opportunity to be a part as well as to get the experience that I need. Not to bad to have on my client list. I am so bless to have some many good people in my life that want me to succeed and understand what my goals are as a makeup artist. My girls came over to help me set up my green room. They wanted me to relax and deal with everything else.

Robin is a wedding planner and Jamielynn is a model/stylist both came out to assist me.

Since I had good help we were able to go have lunch/early dinner at ZOE inside of the W. Hotel. Yes, of course we ordered cocktails. I love the pineapple upside down cake so we had that. The hotel comp everything so we took care of the tip. Of all days my black girl broke on me today so I am not with a phone. I am just glad that everything was going smooth and that everybody arrived that needed to be there so I didn’t have to worry.

Robye, the hairstylist arrived at 4:30pm because he didn’t have to be there until late plus his set up was much smaller. Roico Mora and Chris Bailey the models also arrived at the same time as Robye.

We started working on the model together and the look that I wanted for her was a trendy current look with a little Hollywood classic feel. So the hair was very elegant very old school classic and the makeup was smoky eyes with a light lip and skin glowing/bronzed. I didn’t want to do the no makeup traditonal bridal look because as you know that is so typical and boring. Plus, this is an event so that would not work anyway with the dark lights.

The event crowd was not what I was hoping that would have came out. The entire idea was so different and maybe that scared a lot of people. The event was a mock wedding where brides and wedding planners and event planners in New Orleans could come out to see what a wedding day would look like if they would have gotten married at the W. Hotel. We didn’t miss a beat from hair/makeup to the ceremony to picture taken to going to the reception to taken pictures, dinner, a dj, dancing, cake cutting and of course DRINKS!!!

Sex & The City…Black version

Because we all have been crazy busy these last few weeks we decided to do our once a month get together at the Belvedere Vodka party at the W. Hotel on Poydras. The location was perfect cuz for the most part all of us were coming from downtown area that day. So instead of going home we met up for drinks at 5ish but for the most part we all started arriving about 5:30pm. I was able to go back to the studio and then pick up Star and head to the W. Hotel. So you all know we always have topics especially when the drinks starts to flow. Now stinky penis happen last year but that topic just won’t die with us. Regardless of where we are someone will stop and ask us about it or they have a comment about it. Laine, the bar manager at Whiskey Blue was there and he showed me the new living room. So we played in there for a little while. You all know how much I love DAMASK prints so I fell in love with the new decor. That will be my place to party whenever I go to the W. Laine told me about the SEX IN THE CITY party that they will be doing and asked if I would like to be a part. HELL YEAH…I’m on SEX IN THE CITY TEAM. So we decided that we will attend and wear our character shirts. Can you guess who’s who…. Brandy-Carrie Carlyn-Samantha Star-Charlotte Shontell-Miranda Michael-Mr. Big So drinks started flowing in the topics got so hot and intense that Laine bailed out on us. He couldn’t handle it. The girls said they will start buying febreze to keep with them at all times just incase they run into a man with a stinky penis. With hopes that Procter & Gamble make febreze for men with bad odor like they do for pets. Star flashed us inside the club and she hit the floor at the end of the night. Carlyn shared with us how to suck a chocolate drink/man and Michael taught the girls a lesson on how to get a good man and I am not sure who topic was black men vs white men. I have videos attached but they are so dark that on some you will not see anything but you can HEAR everything. Hopefully, you all will enjoy…sorry I can’t place all of the videos…they are way to X-rated. Glam Life Of A Makeup Artist
